Mrs. Burns, Early Greenbrier Settler, Claimed
LEWISBURG ? Amanda Sharp Burns, 88, of Lewisburg, died after a two-week illness at Greenbrier Valley Hospital, Ronceverte, on Monday. She was the daugher of the late Samuel M. and Eliza Moore Hepler of Meadow Bluff. Mrs. Burns was born July 6, 1869, at Goshen, Va., and came to West Virginia in 1877, being one of the early settlers in Greenbrier County.
Her husband was Dr. Joseph Sharp of Frankford who died in 1899. They were the parents of he late Mrs. A. M. Rathbone (Billie) of New York City and Mrs. Ernest W. Blake (Myrtle) of Lewisburg. Stepchildren survivng from her second marriage to the late J. Matt Burns, of Crawley, are L. G. Burns of Crawley; Mrs. W. E. Scott of Maxwelton; and the late Leviga and Lewis Burns; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Burns lived at 319 North Jefferson St. and was a member of the Old Stone Presbyterian Church, bein active in Circle No. 3.
Services will be held at the Old Stone Church, Lewisburg, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial in the family plot at Rosewood Cemetery.
