ORIENT HILL - Basil E. Osborne Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born May 2, 1922, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Basil Eugene Osborne Sr. and Ada Cleo Martin Osborne.
Mr. Osborne was a retired coal mine foreman for Westmoreland Coal Co.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Midland Trail No. 166 AF and AM Masonic Lodge.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Workman, Mildred "Tiny" Copen and Leola Jones; and a brother, Martin "Nick" Osborne.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Dillon Osborne; a daughter, Carol Dale and husband, Gary, of Orient Hill; a son, Kenneth Eugene Osborne Sr. and wife, Teresa, of Timberville, Va.; two sisters, Pauline Wiggins and Frances Corron and husband, Richard, all of Charlestown, Md.; three grandchildren, Kenneth Eugene Osborne Jr., Jeffrey Darren Osborne and Gregory Dale and wife, Misty; and a great-grandson, Garrett Bryce Dale.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, with the Rev. Houston Boothe and the Rev. Troy George officiating. Burial will follow immediately.
Friends may call 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle.
There will be no evening visitation.
