SALEM — Retha Alice Blagg, 94, of Salem, walked into Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday April 5, 2016, in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.
She was born at Adrian, Upshur County on June 15, 1921, a daughter of the late James A. and Effie M. Cain Alderman.
Her husband, Henry O. Blagg, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Dwain O. Blagg and wife Stephanie, Salem, and Jerry R. Blagg and Sheila, New Concord, OH; one daughter, Cheryl L. Rogers, Salem; grandchildren, Leah Collier and husband Bentley, Powell, OH, Lori Adams husband David, Norwich, OH, Lance Blagg and wife Allison, New Concord, OH, James "Jim" Rogers, Salem, Jennifer Rogers Sondericker and husband Adam, Mt. Clare; great-grandhchildren, Morgan Collier, Avery Adams, Juniper Glass-Klaiber, Jackson and Ginger Blagg, Jay and Owen Sondericker; brothers, Eugene Alderman and wife Jeanette, ID, Denver Alderman and wife Naomi, Salem.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Gerald and William Alderman, two sisters, Helen Armentrout and Imogene Carpenter.
Mrs. Blagg was a true definition of a homemaker; she loved cooking and taking care of her family and the extended family, including, nieces and nephews. Alice enjoyed receiving nut crackers and small bells, which she displayed in her home. She was very dedicated and active in her family's lives serving as Home Room Mother at Van Horn Elementary School for many years and traveling to many places especially taking the grandchildren to Big Bear. Alice held many offices in the Salem Rebekah Lodge before it closed and moved to Wolf Summit.
The family would like to thank Genesis Salem Center and People's Hospice for all of the loving care as well as Lucille Ross for being an excellent roommate.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem, on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Danny Fleming and Pastor Kevin Bender officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 4-8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.
