CLINTONVILLE - Rodney Ray Burns, 75, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 19, 1925, at Rainelle, he was the son of the late Howard and Bertha Hanna Burns.
Mr. Burns was a member of Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church of Clintonville where he served as treasurer for more than 35 years. He was also a charter member of the Clintonville Ruritan Club, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver for the West Virginia Division of Highways.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Burns.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Jeffries Burns of Clintonville; a daughter, Joyce Copeland of Clintonville; a son, John W. "Jay" Burns of Clintonville; two granddaughters, Melody Loudermilk and Christy Estep; three great-grandchildren, Megan Estep, Justin Estep, and Jordan Loudermilk; and one stepgreat-grandson, Justin Loudermilk.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church of Clintonville, with the Rev. Jay Hicks, Rev. Verlin Butcher, and the Rev. Leroy Crane officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Chapel Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church, Clintonville.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church or Clintonville Fire Department.
