JNO. M. SQUIRES CALLED
DEATH CAME SUDDENLY TO PIONEER CITIZEN.
Had Resided In this Community 24 Years - A Native of West Virginia.
John M. Squires, an old and respected citizen of this community, died suddenly at his home on North Blaine avenue at 2:15 o'clock Friday morning. Although Mr. Squires had been ill with asthma for four months, his condition was not considered critical and he had felt better for several days before his death.
The funeral service was held at the high school auditorium Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. H. D. Penner, pastor of the Mennonite church. Burial was in Geary cemetery. Many friends from a distance attended the rites.
Mr. Squires was 71 years old. He was born in Braxton county, West Virginia, December 3, 1859. He was united in marriage to Addie Evans in Braxton county September 25, 1884, and to them were born four children. A son, W. E. Squires, died 10 years ago.
Mr. Squires and his family came to Geary from West Virginia in 1907, and resided two years on a farm 2 miles southeast of town. In 1909 he bought a farm 7 miles southwest of here and this was his home until early last year, when he and Mrs. Squires moved to Geary to make their home. He united with the M. E. church, south, when a young man, and transferred his membership to the M. E. church here in 1907.
The deceased is survived by his wife; two sons, R. C. Squires, and R. K. Squires, and 8 daughter, Mrs. Madge Shawver, all of Geary; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Greathouse of Sutton, W. Va., and Mrs. Susie McCoy of Calumet, and six grandchildren.

OBITUARY - SQUIRES.
Father John M. Squires was born December 3, 1859, in Braxton county, West Virginia; passed away to the life beyond October 9, 1931, at the age of 71 years, 10 months,6 days. He united with the Southern Methodist church when he was 18 years old. When he came to Geary in 1907 he transferred his membership by letter to M. E. church of Geary.
He was married to Miss Addie Evans on September 25, 1884. To this union were born four children, three sons and one daughter. One of the sons, W. E. Squires, was accidentally killed in June, 1921. Those who survive are R. C. Squires, Mrs. Madge Shawver and R. K. Squires, all of Geary. He leaves behind to mourn his departure, his wife, two sons, one daughter, two daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Greathouse of Sutton, W. Va., and Mrs. Susie McCoy of Calumet, Okla., and other relatives, besides many friends far and near, who are confident that death to, him was not loss, but eternal gain.

They'll meet and greet each one of us some day."
