Elkhart driver dies as car slams tree
ELKHART - A 21-year-old Elkhart man died from head injuries after his car hit a tree early today.
The victim was Michael Jones, 21, of 409 Concord Ave, Elkhart.
The police believe Jones was driving too fast along Indiana Avenue at 2:34 a.m. when he lost control of his car at the east end of Indiana Avenue, where the street curves north, toward the Goshen Avenue-Toledo Road intersection.
Jones was not wearing a seat belt and the passenger side of his car struck a tree. He was alone in the car.
