OBITUARIES
Jeremiah G. Helms
Jeremiah (Jerry) Graham Helms, 82, of Clover Creek, near McDowell, died at DeJarnette Sanitarium Wednesday, Dec. 24, following a lingering illness.
Mr. Helms, a well known Highland farmer, was a son of Strother and Polly Lockridge Helms, and was born in Highland Aug. 27, 1887. He was an elder of the Clover Creek Presbyterian Church; a 50 year member of Highland Lodge 110, A. F. & A. M., and a charter member of the Stonewall Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Bradshaw Helms, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 2 p. m. Saturday, Dec. 27 from the Clover Creek Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack E. Maxwell and the Rev. Bernard R. Skeens. Interment was in the adjacent cemetery with Masonic rites. Obaugh Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers were Charles Helms, Raymond Helms, Charles T. Bradshaw, R. G. Bradshaw, Howard Hicklin, Mason Hamilton, Charles Samples and Herbert H. Samples.
Members of the Stonewall Ruritan Club, Masons, and friends and neighbors were honorary pallbearers. Nieces served as flowerbearers.
