Obituaries
Committal service for James Lester Akers, 73, will by today at 1 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Akers, who was born in Fayetteville, W.Va., died Thursday. He was a resident of the Spokane area for 47 years.
He was a retired master sergeant of the Air Force, which was later followed by a career in the grocery industry.
Mr. Akers was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife pf [sic] 45 years, Gwen; two sons, Jim Akers of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Bob Akers of Kent, Wash.; a daughter, Debbie Akers of Atlanta; two brothers, Albert Akers of Boomer, W.Va. and Frank Akers of Tonawanda, N.Y.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
