RENICK - John David Simmons, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at home after a short illness.
Born Dec. 6, 1910, near Renick, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nonie Simmons.
Mr. Simmons was a farmer, avid hunter and fisherman, last surviving member of the original Beaver Lick Hunt Club and retired from C and O Railroad after 18 years of service.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Stella Dunbar, and a daughter, Nancy Simmons Loudermilk.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Clara Lewis Simmons of Renick; son, Eugene and his wife Linda of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Mellisa Walker of Lewisburg, Jennifer Conkey of Spartanburg, S.C., Teresa LaValley of Frankford, David Loudermilk of Frankford, Amy Widney, David Simmons, Dustin Simmons and Daniel Simmons of Hillsboro; great-grandchildren, Michele Ramsey, Misty Brewer and Tyler Conkey; and great-great-grandchildren, Courtney and Alex Brewer.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Jim Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home.
