Rites Scheduled For Fayette Man
WINONA (RNS) ? John Elton Bennett, 42, of Winona died Tuesday in a Montgomery hospital after a short illness.
Born Aug. 15, 1930, at Mount Lookout, he was a son of Mrs. Lillie McClung Bennett of Hico and the late Ernest Bennett.
He was a coal miner and served as a Fayette County constable for the past four years.
He had lived in Winona for the past 11 years and was a member of the Kennys Baptist Church of Winona.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Hypes Bennett of Winona; two daughters, Nancy and Margaret, both at home; two sons, Charles and John Clinton, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Noble and Mrs. Olive Edert, both of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, and Mrs. Lucille Walker of Richwood, and three brothers, Burton of Hico, Floyd of Ironton, Ohio, and Arthur of Clinton, Mich.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Kennys Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Harper and Rev. Wilmer Truman in charge. Burial will be in High Lawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill. The body will be taken to the home at 5 p.m. today from the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted and will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
