Mildred P. Tuckwiller, 82, of Clintonville, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, following a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 27, 1922, in Clintonville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Forrest and Pauline Ferrell Piercy.
She was a long-time 4-H leader in Greenbrier County, and was a retired correctional officer for the Federal Reformatory for Women in Alderson, W.Va. Mildred devoted her life to her family and her church, and will forever be remembered for her enjoyment of gardening and her dedication to the family owned greenhouse.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gerald F. Tuckwiller; as well as her eight children, Patricia Kovach and her husband, Robert, of Lexington, Va., Beverly Miller of Christiansburg, Va., Thomas and his wife, Brenda, of Clintonville, W.Va., Doris Tuckwiller-Wood and her husband, James, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Carolyn Cogar and her husband, Richard, of Locust Grove, Va., Jennifer Tuckwiller of Clintonville, Barbara Petry and her husband, Don, of Hemingway, S.C., and Tracy Bevins and her husband, Lloyd, of Danville, Va.; 11 grandchildren, Chris, Cindy, Tara, Laura, Erica, Elizabeth, Clarissa, Michael, Sarah, Emily, and Jessica; and eight great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church, Clintonville, W.Va, with the Reverends Paul Thompson, Jay Hicks, and Verlin Butcher officiating. Entombment will follow at the Wallace Memorial Mausoleum, Clintonville, W.Va.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mildred's memory may be made to Sunrise Chapel United Methodist Church, in care of John W. Burns, HC 40 Box 72, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
