Funeral services for James Mason Phillips, 77, Alderson, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Muddy Creek Mountain Nazarene Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. L. A. Fahringer in charge. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery.
Phillips died at 6:30 p.m. Friday after a short illness. Born Dec. 21, 1887 in Alderson, he was a son of the late John J. and Sally Fink Phillips.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Callie Kelly Phillips; five sons, James N., Northeast, Md., Garland, Charleston, Carl, Minerva, Ohio, Roy, Alderson and Harlan, Tallahassee, Fla., a daughter, Mrs. Glenna Highlander, Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Sturgeon and Mrs. Maggie Sturgeon, both of Alderson and Mrs. Ida Burns, Fort Springs; two brothers, Clark and Bernie Phillips, both of Alderson.
The body will be taken from the Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson to the church on hour before the service.
Pallbearers will be Harold Phillips, Charles Arbaugh, Theodore Arbaugh, Alfred Grosse, Jack Runyon, Howard Brooks, Lonnie Shires and Alfred Morgan (RNS).
