LEWISBURG - Roy M. Crone, 91, passed away at 1 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at Greenbrier Manor following an extended illness. Born Dec. 20, 1910, in Lewisburg, he was the oldest of 10 children of the late Jacob and Emma Clingman Crone. Mr. Crone was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of Muddy Creek Mountain. His professions included sawmill yard boss and stone quarry equipment operator, but he spent most of his life as a carpenter. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and traveling. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Okey, Milton and Paul Crone; and a sister, Kathleen McLaine. Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Margaret Crone; two sons, Walter and Everett Crone; two daughters, Frances Erskine and Loretta Kelly; five sisters, Gertrude Jones, June Hodges, Bessie Lotts, Barbara Shifflet and Elsie Jones; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Chapel of McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Dexter Taylor and Dr. Susan Sharp Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Lewisburg. Family and friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by McCraw Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
