Helen Virginia Callison Hudson, 87, of Fayetteville died at home on Aug. 22, 2005, following a long illness.
Born March 29, 1918, in Ravens Eye, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Myrth B. and Stella Emma Amick Callison.
She was a homemaker and a former employee of the West Virginia University Extension Service, Fayetteville, under the Green Thumb program for older workers. She was an avid seamstress and gardener most of her life.
On March 11, 1938, she married William David "W.D." Hudson and he preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 1969. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Fenton Ashmer Callison, Frantz Boone Callison and George Henry Callison; and two sisters, Wilma Ilene Foster and Gladys Agnes Brown.
Survivors include her three children, William David Hudson III of Ormond Beach, Fla., Roger Fredric Hudson of Fayetteville and Patricia Louise Crabill of Palm Coast, Fla.; three sisters, Elizabeth Catherine Skaggs of Oak Hill, Mary Lou Maroney of Charleston and Martha Ann Thornton of Beckley; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Lea Hudson, Stephanie Dawn Hudson, David Louis Crabill, Charles Fredric Crabill, Joseph Milton Crabill, Jessica Leigh Hudson Parker, Zachary Adam Hudson, Laura Jane Hudson and Lisa Kate Hudson; and one great-grandchild, Sydney Rae Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Ron George Jr. officiating. Mrs. Hudson had requested that her body be donated to the Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University, Morgantown.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
