HAMPTON - David 'Timmy' Rodes of Hampton, formerly of Beckley, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. He was born Sept. 26, 1935, at Meadow Creek, W.Va., to Decosta Gooch and Edna Richmond Rodes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Thomas 'Mickey' Rodes and Ellen Pruett; and a nephew, Dale Pruett. David is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his son, Michael, both of Hampton; his sister, Katherine 'Sue' Nazworth and her husband, Shep, of Jacksonsville, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Shirley Rodes Wendelken of Marietta, Ohio, Jeanette Kulizowski and her husband, Al, of Cochran, Ga.; brother-in-law, William Pruett of Lake City, Fla.; mother-in-law, Christine Ensmiger of Cochran, Ga.; aunt, Axxon Ceperely and her husband, F.F., of Charleston, W.Va.; a special niece, Pamela Rodes Dolinger of Beckley, W.Va.; niece and nephews, Jerry Rodes of Indian Lakes, Mich., Michael Rodes of Tallahassee, Fla., Kay Coppola of Bradford, Mass., William Pruett of Jacksonville, Fla., David Pruett of Winter Garden, Fla., and Dwayne Walker of California. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. He was a 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. After school, he enlisted in the service where he spent the next 20 years. He retired from the military, settling in Hampton and worked for several companies over the next 30 years. He returned several times yearly to West Virginia to visit and reminisce his youth. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Funeral Home followed by funeral at 3 p.m.
