Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. John was born Oct. 10, 1988, the son of John and Sharon Banta. He graduated from high school at The Oakridge School with honors. He was a student at Texas State University at San Marcos. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Survivors: Parents, John and Sharon; sisters, Kelly and Lisa; grandmother, Effie Banta of Lyons, Colo.; aunt, Linda Brooks and husband, Wayne; uncles, Harold Fleshman and Randy Fleshman, all of Chesapeake, Va., and Lloyd Banta and wife, Sandy, of Lyons, Colo.; and many cousins.
