| Notes |
- In a raid on the Waggoner family, John's wife Margaret Bonnett Waggoner was brutally slain along with 4 small sons. His daughter Elizabeth was captured by Tecumseh and sold as a slave to an Indian squaw. It is thought that the four small boys may have been named as follows: William, after John's father; Samuel, after Margaret's father; John, after John Waggoner; Lewis, after Lewis Bonnett.
