Skull Fractured.
In a personal encounter in the road near McDowell, Highland county, on last Saturday, between Messrs. R. N. Hook and W. H. Jones, of that county, Hook struck Jones with the spoke of a buggy wheel and fractured his skull, inflicting probably a fatal wound. The physicians attending him sent to this city for surgical instruments to trepan the skull, which were furished by Dr. A. M. Henkel. We are not sufficiently informed to give the circumstances under which this encounter took place. We do not know that any one except the parties themselves witnessed the fight.

On thursday last Deputy Sheriff J. W. Luritt placed in jail here one R. N. Hook, aged about 65, charged with having struck his nephew, W. H. Jones, on the head, dangerously injuring him. The trouble occurred in Highland county. Hook was arrested in Augusta. He was, we think, a witness in the Curtis case, tried here several years ago and is the father of the young Mrs. Curtis.
-Augusta Co. Argus.
The Argus is in error as to a portion of the above. Mr Benj Hook is the father of Mrs Curtis and a brother of Mr R. N. Hook.
