Aged Woman's Body Found After White Sulphur Fire
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, Sept. 4 (RNS) - Mrs. Nannie Jane Hunter, 79, died early today in a fire which destroyed the four-room home where she lived alone on the outskirts of White Sulphur Springs.
The victim's body was found by volunteer firemen near the kitchen door of the dwelling. It appeared she had died of suffocation while trying to escape.
The fire, cause of which was not determined, broke out about 2 a.m.
Mrs. Hunter was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and the widow of Charles Edward Hunter, who proceded her in death on July 2, 1948.
Her only survivor is a brother, Dave Barnes of Marlinton.
The funeral will be held at the Pentecostal Holiness Church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Marvin Richardson. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The body will remain at the Shanklin Funeral Home until the funeral hour.
Active pallbearers will be John Traynor, Myles Bittinger, Charles Long, Karim Hamood, Alfred Bennett, Jr., and Kenneth Fogus.
