Harold D. Hiser
BARGERSVILLE
Harold D. Hiser, 61, a spiritual giant, went to be with his Lord on Friday, June 8, 2012.
He was born Sept., 18, 1950, in Holton, W.Va., to George and Frances (Phipps) Hiser. He married Marilyn K. (Bensheimer) Hiser on Dec. 31, 1987, she survives.
He had worked as a pipefitter for Central Industrial Contractors in Marion and previously for Maddox Industrial Contractors for 22 years.
He was a member of Franklin Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder and taught Bible studies. He was a craftsman who enjoyed creating things out of wood and steel.
He especially loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn K. (Bensheimer) Hiser of Bargersville; two daughters, Elizabeth Hiser and Becky Griffin (Jerry), both of Virginia; two stepsons, Jesse Carter (Amy) of Franklin and Justin Carter (Renee) of Eau Claire, Wis.; two brothers, Frank Hiser (Louise) of Virginia and Danny Hiser of West Virginia; three sisters, Nena Mitchell of West Virginia, Nancy Miller (Royce) of North Carolina and Thelma Flack of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Bradley Spade, Matthew Spade, Aaron Griffin, Emily Carter, Jasper Carter, Natalie Carter, Cole Carter; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Jasper Carter; and two brothers, Lewis Hiser and John Hiser.
Guy Langston will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Franklin Church of Christ, 3600 N. Morton St. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial with full military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
