RUPERT - Garland Hamilton Walkup, 93, of Rupert died Aug. 29, 1999, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a short illness. He was a member of Clear Creek Rod & Gun Club and Hines Gospel Tabernacle, and was a retired miner. Surviving: wife, Maxine Shortridge Walkup; daughter, Joyce Smith of Hopewell, Va.; sons, Harold of Hopewell, Garland Wayne and Eddie Gene, both of Rupert; sisters, Lula Amick of Louisa, Va., Mildred Wyatt of Maryland, Mescle Blasick of Florida; brother, Raymond of Maryland; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hines Gospel Tabernacle with the Rev. Bill Cruse, the Rev. Benny Peyton and the Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Park, Clintonville. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, and one hour prior to service at the church.
