Service Arranged For Orvel Smith
Orvel K. Smith, 43, widely known school teacher of Greenbrier county, died at his home at Rupert at
11 p. m. Thursday.
Born March 3, 1905, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney M. Smith. He was educated at the Alderson Baptist academy, Concord college at Athens and the University of Maryland. He taught for 23 years in Greenbrier schools and for 15 years was principal of the Anjean school. Mr. Smith was a member of the Big Clear Creek Baptist church and of the Loyal Order of the Moose lodge No. 1647 at Rainelle.
He had been ill several months and returned home just a month ago from Florida, where he had gone for a rest.
Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Honaker Smith; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah
Withrow of Rupert and Mrs. Billie Smith of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Noel of Charleston and Joseph Smith of Rupert. He was a nephew of Dr. James McClung and the late Dr. Dennis McClung.
Service will be at 3 p.m. today at Big Clear Creek church. Rev. Homer C. Piercy will officiate. Burial will be in the End of the Trail cemetery with Wallace & Wallace mortuary of East Rainelle in charge.
The body will be taken from the mortuary to the church one hour before service.
Pallbearers will be Delvin Harrah, Cleo Walkup, Dotson Robinson, H. Roger McVeigh, M. L. Walkup
and Earl Hunter.
