  The Charleston Daily Mail, 1 Jan 1942 Miss Dessie Smith - Miss Smith, 50, of East Rainelle, died Wednesday afternoon at her home of a heart attack. Daughter of the late Henry and Anetta Smith, Miss Smith is survived by two brothers, Toby Smith of Washington, and Elliott Smith of East Rainelle and one sister, Mrs. Noka Martin of Washington. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the East Rainelle Baptist church, of which she was a member. Rev. M. H. Westlake of East Rainelle, will officiate. Burial will be in the Amwell cemetery at Rupert, Greenbrier county, where she was born. The Nickell mortuary at East Rainelle has charge.
