RAINELLE - Edna Hobbs, of Rainelle, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2008, at her home, following a long illness.
Born on Jan. 13, 1916, in Rainelle, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Bessie Mae Osborne Hunter.
Mrs. Hobbs was a homemaker and a member of the Sewell Valley Baptist Church at Rainelle. She loved sewing, gardening, and working with her flowers. Edna had a passion for helping others. Her life's work was about taking care of and supporting her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hobbs Sr.; two brothers, Kermit Hunter Sr. and Kenneth Hunter; and three sisters, Betty Fleshman, Garnette Cox, and Ruby Hunter.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. James Hobbs Jr. and wife Carol of Rainelle and George Washington Hobbs and wife Jeanie of Eufaula, Okla.; a daughter, Patsy Louise Froelich of Rainelle; a brother, Quinton Hunter and wife Ferris of Hobart, Ind.; a sister, Bonnie Lee Knapp and husband Findlay of Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in the Sewell Valley Baptist Church, Rainelle, with Pastor Milton Ker, Rev. James Hobbs Jr., and Pastor Kermit Hunter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the church.
