Ollie Hines Young, 101, of Charleston went to be with our Lord Oct. 22, 2002. Born in Rupert, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie Hines of Greenbrier County. Mrs. Young had eight brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. She was the wife of the late Emory R. Young Sr. They were married over 65 years. They had one son, E.R. "Bud" Young Jr. Ollie Hines Young was a lifelong resident of Charleston. She attended Baptist Temple for over 50 years. She was a member of the Edythe McCarty Circle for over 50 years. Mrs. Young was a charter member of Kanawha Country Club and Edgewood Garden Club. Ollie "Maw-maw" Hines Young had four grandchildren, Sandra Y. Elliott, Emory R. Young III, Betsy Neal and Ann Hines; and their children, Jessica and Edward Ryan, Allison and Leah Young, Alex and Nick Elliott and Andrew, Adam and Madeline Hines. She also had four stepgrandchildren, Eric Gunnoe, Liz Gunnoe, Steve Gunnoe and Steph Gunnoe; and their children, Mollie and Ellie Gunnoe and Willamina May McCullough. She was also blessed to see the coming of two great-great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jocelyn Ryan. "Maw-maw" will be deeply missed by her family and all of those who knew her. She was an inspiration with optimism, unconditional love and her unwavering ability to see the good in everyone. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Baptist Temple, Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Union Mission Ministries, 700 South Park Road, Charleston, WV 25304. Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
