SUMMERSVILLE ? John Burton McClung, 59 years of age, of Summersville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at St. Mary?s Medical Center in Huntington after a short illness.
He was the son of the late Okla Burton and Wilma Sweeney McClung and was born in Huntington on March 16, 1948. He was a coal miner and had served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are companion, Carolyn Autrey; two sons, John Patrick McClung of Summersville and Michael Shane McClung of Calvin; two daughters, Shannon Keesee of Huntington and Tara Ann Johnson of Tennessee; a sister, Marilyn Moses of Summersville; and eight grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at McClung Family Cemetery, Canvas, with the Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating.
Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Legion Post No. 33 Honor Guard, 847 Farmall Lane, Little Birch, WV 26629.
