CHARMCO ? Dora Hazel Walkup Gwinn, 84, of Charmco went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at home following a long illness.
Born November 10, 1926, in Richwood, she was the daughter of the late James Luther and Sarah Taylor.
Dora was a homemaker and had worked at various sewing factories. She was a member of the Orient Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Wilson Walkup, and her second husband, Herman Gwinn; a daughter, Patricia Ann Blocher; a son, Eli Edward Walkup; and three brothers, Ralph, Ray and Roy Taylor.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Gladwell of Rainelle and Sharon Sue Judy of Rupert; four sons, "Woody" Walkup, Jr., of Myrtle Beach, SC, Gary Walkup of Trout, James Roy Walkup, Sr., of Charmco, and Darrell Walkup of Bingham; one sister, Dorothy Hannah of Summersville; one brother, Raymond "Bud" Taylor of White Sulphur Springs; twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the Orient Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Luchsinger and Reverend David Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Orient Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.
