MEADOW BLUFF - Steve Walkup, 50, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Aug. 30, 1951, at Crawley, he was the son of the late Ulysses Ray and Margie Jane Hunter Walkup.
Steve was a member of I.U.O.E. (International Union of Operating Engineers), an Army Reserve veteran and formerly employed by West Virginia Paving.
Survivors include his beloved fiance, Hilda G. Yates of Meadow Bluff; two stepdaughters, Debbie Yates and fianc, Chris, of Lewisburg and Lynne Snedegar and husband, Mike, of Charlottesville, Va.; a stepson, Tommy Yates and wife, Sheila, of Marlinton; three brothers, Dennis Walkup of Kansas City, Kan., Leroy Walkup of Keiffer and Curtis Walkup of Appomatox, Va.; four stepgrandchildren, Michael Snedegar, Dakota Walker, Samantha Friel and Jesse Blake; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, with Chaplain Katherine Weed and the Rev. Leroy Crane officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
