Jones, 83, of Osceola, IN, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Elkhart Hospice in Elkhart, IN. Dorothy was born on January 30, 1931, in Florence, AL. On April 1949, Dorothy married her first husband, Earl Glenn Balentine. On March 31, 1965, Dorothy married her second husband, Willard Jones. Dorothy was preceded in death by her second husband, Willard, her parents, & her brother, William "Buddy" May. Dorothy is survived by her children, LaVonna Jones of Osceola, IN, Earl (Elaine) Balentine of Mesa, AZ, Wanda Meredith and her companion, Dean Miller of Osceola, IN, and Victoria (Mark) Underwood of Tucson, AZ. Dorothy was preceded death by her daughter, Phyllis Weaver. Dorothy was a loving and caring grandmother to 4 grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Weaver, Chris (Uriah) Balentine, Pat Balentine and Jonah Balentine; great-grandchildren, Jayde, Raistlin Weaver, Brandon, Christina, Armanni, Geo and Nathan Balentine. Dorothy was a nanny to several families in town; the Jones family would like to recognize the O'-Donnell and Robinson families, who they still, stay in contact with, where Dorothy was a part of raising their children. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and shopping. Dorothy was member of the Church of Christ, Jefferson and Currant Rd., Mishawaka, IN. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12 noon with the service at noon on December 6, 2014, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN. She joins her beloved son, Donnie Whittaker; her parents, Elbert and Beulah Robertson; a brother, Roy Robertson; two sisters, Maxine Fanning and Lacy Cox; and a dear friend, Jo Ann McCroskey, in Heaven. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Clarence Robertson, of Narrows; and her sister, Vera Bishop, of Halifax. Jean was a loving mother of seven children. She is survived by John and Michelle Walkup, of Narrows, Lawrence Walkup, of Snowshoe, W.Va., Anna and Richard Slate, of Dublin, Tony and Brenda Martin, of Narrows, Robin Martin, of Pulaski, and Pat and Ted Neely, of Richlands. Nannie's grandchildren include Wendy Myers, Erica Stables, Shala Martin, Mark Martin, Rachel Neely, Jordan Walkup, Jason Simmons, Amiah Stables, Nakenzi Stables, and Jackson Walkup. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. Whether in Narrows or traveling, Jean enjoyed meeting new people. She was generous with her time, driving friends to doctors' appointments, and helping with Relay For Life and the Narrows Veterans' Memorial. She was a dedicated mother and a loving grandmother, who attended hundreds of soccer matches, football, baseball, volleyball and basketball games, church plays, and school programs. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Narrows, where she had many church friends. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Narrows on Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. At her request, we will be celebrating her life with a wake at the Narrows VFW from 8 to 11 p.m. following visitation at the church. Mrs. Garrett was a native of Virginia, having been born in Lee county in 1873. She was married in 1890 to Peter Garrett and had been a resident of Grant township about six years. She was converted at an early age, and was a member of the M.E. church and lived a consistent christian life. She leaves five children, all of whom will miss the mother's care and counsel. Born on October 5, 1955 she was the daughter of the late Garnett and Lena Anderson. She was proceeded in death by her brother Butch Anderson and infant son Ernest Hunter. Nancy's most precious possession was her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and crafting. She enjoyed attending Smoot Baptist Church. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Ernie and their children; Heather Humphreys (Bruce), Darren Hunter (Heather), and Chris Hunter. Seven grandchildren; Sebastian Puleo, Autumn Dolin (Justin), Landon Humphreys, Hunter Humphreys, Makenna Humphreys, Carter Hunter, Gracelyn Hunter; 3 Great-Grandchildren, A sister, Brenda Glover(Walter) and Brother Larry Anderson, along with several other family members. There will be a Celebration of Life held on February 9, 2019 at the Quality Inn formerly known as the Brier Inn in Lewisburg, WV from 1pm-4pm.
