Dewey was born on August 31, 1943 in Summersville, West Virginia, son of the late Dorsey P. and Sarah Martha Bailes King. Dewey was a wonderful loving Daddy, a carpenter, and the retired pastor of Rose of Sharon Holiness Church. He enjoyed gardening. Dewey was married to Patricia Ann Smith King on December 19, 1964; and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2022. Two great grandchildren, Titus Avery Robbins and Emmett Lucas King; one brother, Leroy King; and one sister, Bonnie Orcutt also preceded him in death. Dewey is survived by two daughters, Kathy Tackett and her husband Roy of Denton, North Carolina and Melody Myers and her husband Brent of Huntingburg, Indiana; one son, Michael King and his wife Dawn of Pomeroy, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and one sister, Janet Nipp of New Carlyle, Ohio. The funeral service for Dewey will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Derald Hunt officiating. His burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Willis Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and from noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. | King, Rev. O. McCoy was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma June 12, 1919, and died at Delhart, Texas, Sept. 28, 1920. of Summer Complaint after a weeks illness. The parents brought the body on Wednesday to Waynoka and the funeral was held from Mrs. McCoy's old home in Cottonwood Township, nine miles Northwest, the residence of her father, Mr. J. N. Hillman. Services were conducted by Rev. Samuel Pearson of the Congregational Church and a choir of the old neighbors sang appropriate hymns at both the residence and the Cemetery. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery in the family lot by the side of the Grandmother. She was the wife of the late Joe B. Bates. Born September 19, 1916, in Charleston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Jess E. and Hattie M. (Crane) Carver, she had worked for the former Bear's Department Store for over 20 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Saint John The Baptist; the York Symphony Orchestra Auxiliary; the Garden Club of York; and the Welcome Wagon Club of York. She founded the Cotillion Club of York and she and her husband were the first presidents. She was a former member of the Women's Club of York; the Shiloh Garden Club; and the Historical Society of York. She enjoyed entertaining friends and was known for her gourmet cooking. Mrs. Bates is survived by three sons, Joe L. Bates of Williamsburg, Va., Brad B. Bates and Brent B. Bates, both of York; two grandchildren, Bret L. Bates and Blis Bates-Szala, both of York; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Szala and Brittany Szala, both of York; and a sister, Emma Williams of Charleston, W. Va. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly C. Bates. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004, at the Episcopal Church of Saint John The Baptist, 140 North Beaver Street, York, with her pastor, the Rev. David W.
