In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife Clara Belle Rider Craft on May 11, 2007; son-in-law, Randy Peyton; three sisters, Shelma Lerch, Anna Belle Osborne McCugilton and Lillian Bryant; and two brothers, Roger and Carl Craft. Survivors include: two daughters, Clara Martha Kendrick of Germantown, MD, and Barbara Joan Craft of Alexandria, VA; son, Gratten C. Mrs. Phillips was a retired postmaster, having retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Worthington, KY, with 22 years of service. She was a 1952 graduate of Alderson High School, Alderson, and was a member of the Worthington Church of the Nazarene, Worthington, KY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a son, Scott Phillips; sister, Bonnie Runyon; and two brothers, Earl and Jack Runyon. Born May 11, 1919, at Prince, he was the son of the late William Ira Holliday, Sr. and the late Bessie Alice Baker Holliday. Mr. Holliday was a retired correctional officer, having retired in 1969 with 30 years of service from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Alderson. Following his retirement, he was the bookkeeper for the Greenbrier Oil Company, Alderson, and was also a former employee of the C&O Railroad, Alderson. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Holliday was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, where he was a member of the Men?s Bible Class, the Friendship Sunday School Class and was an usher. He was a member of Tri-County Memorial VFW Post #6723, Alderson, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Holliday enjoyed woodworking, camping, and writing poetry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife of 49 years, Lou Elizabeth Via Holliday; his second wife of 10 years, Laura June Jones Echols Holliday; brother, Charles Edward Holliday; and sister, Rosalie Ruth Holliday Myles. Born Feb. 26, 1913, in Frost, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Moomaw and Mamie Alice Carey Jordan. Mrs. Clingman was owner and operator of Clingman?s Market and Gwen?s Kitchen for 57 years. She was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers? Sunday school class. She was an honorary member of the Lions Club, and of Alpha Psi Omega and the Drama Club. She was named BPW Lewisburg "Career Woman of the Year" in 1980 and 1997, a "Distinguished West Virginian," "Mother of the Year," and was proclaimed a WVSOM honorary alumnus in 1998. She was honored during Gwen Clingman Day on Apr. 23, 1995, was presented with the key to Lewisburg by then-Mayor R. B. Fouch, was the grand marshal for the Lewisburg Christmas Parade, and was awarded the City of Lewisburg Communty Service Award by then-Mayor P. L. Gainer. She received the WVSOM Distinguished Service Award, was named the Shanghai Parade?s "Super Duper Pooper Scooper," and was an honorary member of the WVSOM Alumni Association. She was the incentive for the Gwen Clingman Scholarship at WVSOM, and received the Shepherd?s Center Community Service Award in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Rosewell Clingman. The Charleston Gazette, Charleston, WV, Monday, 15 Jun 1987 TWO TEENAGERS DROWN IN THE NEW RIVER SANDSTONE - Two teenagers on a church group outing on the New River in Summers County drowned Saturday when they were caught in the river's current, according to a spokeswoman for the state police detachment in Hinton. Robin D. Akers, 16, of Grassy Meadows, Greenbrier County, and Phillip Leon Meadows, 16, of Nettie, Nicholas County, drowned at about 5:45 p.m., according to state police reports. They had been wading in shallow water in the New River when, according to witnesses, the current swept them out into deep water in a matter of seconds. Attempts to rescue them were not successful, she said. The incident was investigated by Trooper J.S. Tincher. Akers was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses at Lilly Park in Rainelle and was and was a student at Greenbrier West High School. Born Feb. 22, 1913, at Renick, he was the son of the late Charles Oakley and Ada Dixon Hume Crane. He was a graduate of Renick High School, attended Concord College and received his Doctorate from Moody Bible Institute. He worked at the Friars Hill Store Co. until he was ordained a Missionary Baptist Preacher in the mid-1930s. Following that he was pastor of a number of churches in West Virginia and Virginia. In all, he pastored Baptist Churches and did evangelistic revivals for over 60 years. Churches he pastored were: Valley Baptist Church, Zenith 1939-1943; Sinks Grove Baptist Church 1940-1942; and Big Clear Creek Baptist Church and Beaver Creek Baptist Church; 1940-1944. He served as Supply Pastor of Crimson Springs Baptist, Orient Hill Baptist and Meadow Creek Baptist Churches in West Virginia. In Virginia, he pastored Springwood, Lithia, Cedar Bluff and Jennings Creek from 1944-1951; First Baptist Church, Narrows 1951-1958; Buchanan Field again from 1958-1968; Seventeenth Street Baptist of Roanoke 1968-1983; Cedar Bluff Baptist from 1988-1999; Interim Pastor from 1984-1987 Catawba Baptist, Troutville and Craig Valley Baptist, Castle, VA. He was Clerk of the Greenbrier Association 1939-1944; Board Member of WV Baptist Convention from Hopewell Association 1939-1944. He served as Moderator of the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association in 1974 and 1975. Rev. Dr. Crane was preceded in death by: his wife, Ada McMillion Crane; son, James W. Crane; two sisters, an infant and Mary Hester Crane; two brothers, Joseph H. Crane and L. Marshall Crane. Survivors include: three grandchildren, Alan Crane, Bruce Crane, and Suzanne Crane Carter of North Carolina; sister, Ruth Hanna of Lewisburg; brother, Rev. Leroy Crane of Lewisburg; brother-in-law, Porter McMillion of Norfolk, VA; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Crane of Martinsville, VA; three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Born Nov. 4, 1916, at Meadow Dale, Highland County, she was the only child of Dennis arid Bessie Gum. A 1937 graduate of Harrisonburg State Teachers College, she was a public school teacher for six years at Churchville High School, and a substitute teacher for many years at Churchville and Buffalo Gap high schools. She was a member of Loch Willow Presbyterian Church, serving in many capacities, including Sunday school teacher, president of the Women of the Church, chairman of District VI of the Lexington Presbytery, and president of the Women of the Church of the Presbytery. She received a life membership in the Women of the Church of Lexington Presbytery. Mrs. Sellers, the first woman elder of Loch Willow, served three terms as clerk of session. Loch Willow later granted her the status of elder emerita. She was a commissioner from the Lexington Presbytery to the Meeting of the Synod of Virginia and also to the General Assembly. On Aug. 5, 1939, she married Whitfield Trimble Sellers, who preceded her in death on May 7, 2002. He was born on July 7, 1926, in Village Ferndale, Michigan, to Edward and Elma (Evans) Huson. Ed joined the United States Army in 1944, and served his country faithfully in the infantry during WWII on the European-African theaters and the occupation of Germany. On November 23, 1976, he married Arlene Zopp, in Monrovia, California. Ed retired, after 37 years from McDonald Douglas, in January of 1990. They moved from Temple City, California, to Roseburg, Oregon, in June of 1992. Ed was a regular attendant of the First Conservative Baptist Church of Roseburg. He was an avid elk hunter an loved his trips to Cortez, Colorado. Fishing was one of his happy times, meeting with friends, family, and co-workers, in the High Sierras of California. Preparing for the trip was a big thing for him. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to help people. Ed had a heart of gold, and was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be missed by friends and family. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert and sisters, Marion and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Roseburg; sons, Steve and his wife, Linda Huson of La Verne, California; Donald and his wife, Bonnie Huson of Gardenville, Nevada; daughter, Gayle and her husband, Dale Shaffer of Temple City, California; a sister, Gladys Hutchens of Macomb, Michigan and seven grandchildren. Arlene was born on June 5, 1935, in Rupert, West Virginia, one of 14 children born to Etta and Elmer Zopp. Arlene moved to Southern California in 1953, and soon after began her 35 year career in the Aerospace Industry. While working at Hycon Manufacturing she met the love of her life, Ed Huson. They were married in November of 1976, and retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1990, moving to Roseburg in June of 1992. Arlene was a member of the First Conservative Baptist Church in Roseburg and was active in the Rejoicer?s Sunday school class, women?s Bible studies and other women?s ministries. She loved bowling, fishing, traveling, gatherings with family and friends, and walking her precious dog, ?Tammy?. She was a caring and loving person who will be missed by all who knew her. Her husband, Edward Huson preceded her in death. She is survived by brothers, Murrell H. Zopp of Rupert, W. Virginia; Colbert Zopp of High Point, North Carolina; sisters, Ruth Coalson of Cartersville, Georgia; Loretta Kudek of West Land, Michigan; Edith Keszler of Monmouth, Oregon; Eleanor Hathaway of Melbourne, Florida; Velma Blackwell of Grafton, Ohio; Shirley Price of Glen Morgan, W. He was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon. Bob enjoyed many things in life, one was the love for his pipe and tobacco. He was an avid bowler and member of the Indian Lanes Match Club. He loved playing pinochle, a good game of cribbage, and working out at the gym. Bob was an incredible craftsman when it came to working with wood and always took great pride in how green his lawn was and how beautiful his plants were. Robert (Bob, husband, father, grandpa, and friend) was loved and will truly be missed. She was formerly married to Doug Carlson of Olympia and had one son, Jacob Carlson, 15. Bev and Doug remained close friends and worked together to raise their son. She was employed by Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters for the past several years as a Customer Service Manager. Bev enjoyed any activity involving her son, as well as trips to the beach and to Disneyland. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee. Bev is survived by her son Jacob Carlson, her sister Debbie (John) Ganger, her brother Henry (Sandy) Heuer, and her former husband Doug Carlson. Other survivors include her aunt Kathy Kane, nephews Ryan and Nick Losli, Randy Heuer, her niece Ashley Munoz, and a great- nephew, Leo Munoz, along with her extended family that included numerous friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters family for their compassion and continual support. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Hawley and husband, Bruce Hawley, of Pomeroy, and Shannon Osburn and husband, Greg Osburn, of Belpre; seven grandchildren, Amber Blackwell, Kimberlee Fitzgerald, Jennifer Mayle, David Bing, Carrie Shuler, Jesse Whittington and Katie Osburn; seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison, Courtney, Steven, Tori, Gage and Alexandria; as well as several nieces and nephews. Patricia lived her life through example, showing unconditional love and unwarranted respect for others. She was very humble and meek but equally strong, overcoming many challenges. Born May 10, 1914, at Richwood, he was the son of the late Dr. Luster Clark McCutcheon and Iva Talbert Shomo McCutcheon (second marriage to Barnewall). Dr. McCutcheon was a doctor in Green Bank from 1926 until his death in 1945. Mr. McCutcheon was a retired teacher and founder in 1953 of McCutcheon Insurance Agency. He was a founding member and Deacon of Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Montgomery County and Maryland State Retired Teachers Associations, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple; 32nd Scottish and York Rite Mason; charter member of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Elks Club. In World War II he served in the U. S. Navy as instructor in various radar and navigational schools; he taught in Pocahontas County from 1933 to 1947 and at Gaithersburg High School from 1948 to 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Glenville State College and received his Master?s Degree in Education from West Virginia University. Surviving him are his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; sons, L. C.
