Judge Morgan H. Morrison, aged eighty-four years, two months and twenty-two days, died Saturday at the family home, 308 North Barker. Mr. Morrison was a native of West Virginia and was born in Braxton county. He was united in the bonds of holy wedlock to Miss Susan Sterrett, February 16, 1858. Ten children were born to this union all of whom survive except Albert, who died July 21, 1887, when he had attained the age of seventeen. Mr. Morrison united with the M. E. church in 1867 and remained steadfast until summoned to his heavenly home. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the First Methodist church, conducted by Rev. T. J. H. Taggart, of Guthrie, assisted by Rev. W. R. Johnson, resident pastor. The sad obsequies were attended by a large crowd of grief-stricken relatives and friends. During Rev. Taggart's pastorate of the First Methodist church here a few years ago a warm and strengthening bond of friendship sprang up between himself and the deceased, which will perpetuate Judge Morrison's memory in the mind of the minister throughout the coming years. Mr. Morrison was a staunch believer in the Bible which is the highest type of the world's great body of literature and no man knew his underlying traits of character better than Rev. Taggart, who spent many hours with him while his pastor, hence, no other person was quite so well fitted with truths concerning the deceased to eulogize his life. Rev. Taggart preached a masterly sermon and paid many glowing tributes to the memory of the deceased. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Immediately following the sermon the remains were interred in El Reno cemetery. While in the state of his nativity Judge Morrison filled many positions of trust and served his constituency well. He served his home county in the official capacity of sheriff, recorder, county assessor and register of deeds. In 1878 the Death Angel entered his home and removed his beloved wife and mother of his children. Later he realized the need of a helpmate and was married to Mrs. Margaret Hall, a cousin of his former wife and childhood friend of his. His second marriage was solemnized September 16, 1882. The family moved from West Virginia to Butler county, Kansas, in 1883. Within a brief time the citizenship recognized Mr. Morrison's capabilities and elected him probate judge, which position he filled with honor to himself and those who reposed trust in him. Following the termination of his official career in Kansas the family came to El Reno in 1908, where they have since resided. Judge Morrison was a proficient man and those who knew him never doubted his qualifications. His health began failing two years ago, however, he made trips to the business section occasionally and indulged in social converse for a time after he began complaining. He kept in touch with current events by reading the newspapers and talking with friends who visited him from time to time. He loved flowers and appreciated those sent to him while he lived. It was his request that if any flowers were used at his funeral, they be given to the sick and his request was carried out by the floral offerings being given to the hospital. The surviving relatives are the widow and the following children: Mrs. L. Bright, Miss Jessie and M. H. Morrison, jr., of El Reno; A. S. Morrison, Enid; J. H. Morrison, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; Mmes. W. H. Ehlers and W. E. Brown, Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. J. B. Morrison, Charleston, W. Va.; and O. F. Morrison, Anthony, Kansas. | Morrison, Morgan Hutchinson Sr. (I6735)

Blagg, the eldest son in a family of seven children, was born Oct 26, 1867, at Sutton. W. Va., and departed this life Sept. 25, 1940, at his home in El Reno at the age of 72 years. 10 months and 29 days. When a young man he moved to Kansas. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Griffith Aug. 24, 1897. To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters - Mrs. W. R. Kinkade of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. E. J. Mason of Sublette, Ill., Mrs. J. W. Ellis of Palisades, Colo., Marion Blagg of Calumet, Otto Blagg of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Albert Fesler of Luther and Bert Blagg of Oklahoma City, and a foster son, Will Land of Dale. Besides these, the following relatives survive: His wife, Mrs. Mary Blagg; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Griffith; three brothers and one sister, Henry and Cardon Blagg of Sutton, W. Va., George Blagg of Pueblo, Colo., and Mrs. C. M. Hamilton of Burnsville, W. Va., and 13 grandchildren. Twenty-five years ago Mr. Blagg came to Oklahoma and has resided here continuously since. He lived the Christian life for many years, and at the time of his death was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of El Reno. All through these years Brother Blagg has been loyal and faithful to God. He was a faithful and devoted husband and father. No man loved his family better than he. For several years he suffered very much with an inward cancer, but through it all was kind, patient and never complained, but bore his pain with Christian-like faith. "Goodbye till morning comes again", We part, if part we must, with pain, But night is short and hope is sweet; Faith fills our hearts, and raises our face, And so we sing the old refrain, "Goodbye till morning comes again." "Goodbye till morning comes again." The thought of death brings weight of pain. But could we know how short the night That falls, and hides them from our sight, Our hearts would sing the old refrain, "Goodbye till morning comes again." | Blagg, John Morrison (I18900)

Hodge, who was fifteen years old and a member of the Y.M.C.A., resided at 1524 E street southeast. His father, John Hodge, is a painter. Melcher, who is seventeen years old, resides at 1522 E street southeast. In Quest of Pleasure Yesterday morning about 11 o'clock the boys hired a skiff at French's boathouse at Twining City and started on a trip in the direction of the upper Potomac, donning their bathing suits while moving up the river. When about 200 yards from the Highway bridge they decided to take a dip in the water, and Melcher, the swimmer, was to determine the depth of the water. He went overboard from the stern, but before he had time to advise Hodge of the danger the latter jumped into the water from the bow of the small craft. Melcher hearing his companion struggling in the water, went to his assistance, first throwing him an oar. He caught hold of his companion and they disappeared beneath the surface of the water together. After going under a second time the youths became separated, and Melcher, who was almost exhausted, saw nothing more of Hodge. Body Recovered by Police Boat When Melcher had partly recovered from the effects of his exciting struggle he returned to the water, but was unable to locate Hodge. It was about 1:30 o'clock when the drowning occurred, and about one hour later the harbor police recovered the body. The body was taken from the morgue to the Hodge home after Coroner Nevitt had made an investigation and given a certificate of accidental death. | Hodge, John Clyde (I49464)
