Born to Virgil and Ruby Hazel ?Pete? Tyree on Oct. 4, 1942, he was the eldest son of six children. He was a 1961 graduate of Elkview High School. After graduation, he continued working and dedicating his life to being a devoted son and father. Over approximately the last two years, he was able to experience the blessing of becoming a grandfather and the joy associated with that blessing for the past 14 months. Gib will also be remembered for his love of animals. His loyal golden retriever, Lucy, will miss his devotion, as well as all of the deer and the birds that became accustomed to his regular feedings. They will certainly miss the quiet gentle spirit they came to know and trust. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Gib was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Tyree; and his son, Steven Paul Tyree. Gib is survived by his loving family: son, Scott Tyree, his wife, Brooke, and son, Kaleb; mother, Hazel ?Pete? She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, fulfilling her call as a minister's wife, and she was also a homemaker who loved to cook. She belonged to the Thomasville Church of Christ and always had a smile on her face, showing her love for everyone that she would meet. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Clyde Fuller. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Lawrence C. Zopp, of the home; a son, the Rev. Colbert Eugene Zopp and his wife, Jeanette, of Gallipolis Ferry; two daughters, Lula Mae Rawe and her husband, Tony, of Calaban, Colo., and Jackie Lane and her husband, Rick, of High Point, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Ellen, Anthony, Melissa, Mark, Richard, Rebecca and Jeanette; and 18 great-grandchildren. | 5185 | The Charleston Daily Mail, Thursday, 21 April 1955 Beckley Man Held In Death BECKLEY - State Police here said they had been informed that Charles Kaiser of Beckley was arrested by authorities in Wayne, Mich., early today. Kaiser was arested on a warrant issued West Virginia authorities charging him with murder in the death of a 27-year-old Mabscott soldier killed while he was at home on leave. State Police Sgt. W. E. Webb of Beckley said that during a fight between Kaiser and Pfc. Dewey Rollyson at Mabscott on Monday, Rollyson received a blow on the head from a pop bottle which caused his death two days later. Webb said the soldier went home after the fight and the next day lapsed into a coma. He was taken to a hospital where he died Wednesday afternoon. Kaiser, a driver for Automobiles Transportation Inc., of Beckley, had gone to Wayne prior to Rollyson's death and authorities were requested to apprehend and hold him.
