He was a life member of the VFW and Disabled Veterans. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Elks Lodge, and Fleet Reserve Association. He was a Baptist. Callaghan is survived by his mother, Ruth Callaghan, of New Port Richey, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Callaghan, and his wife, Carol Hayslett Callaghan.
