B8, col. 2 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-courier-journal/163559661/ Former Louisvillian dies in collision of light aircraft and Air Force jet From AP and Staff Dispatcehs [sic] A 49-year-old former Louisvillian was killed Friday morning when a private plane he was in collided with an Air Force weather reconnaissance plane near Albuquerque, N.M. Clarence Delmer Pyle, now of Columbus, Ohio, was one of two men killed when the Cessna 150 they were in smashed into a mesa west of Albuquerque after colliding with an FB-57C jet. The other man was an Albuquerque flying instructor. The Air Force jet landed safely minutes after the crash with a small piece of the Cessna imbedded in its wings. The cause of the crash was unknown as of last night but Federal Aviation Administration officials were investigating and the Air Force said a board of officers will also investigate. Pyle was apparently on a business trip when the crash occurred. A contractor and developer, he was a native of Harlan, Ky., and worked with Jack Durrett Builder Developer, Inc., while in Louisville. He was a World War II Marine veteran and a Methodist. His survivors include his wife, the former Mildred Williams; a son, Tommy D. Pyle, of Beaufort, S.C,: two daughters, Marilyn J. and Peggy L. Pyle, both at home; his stepfather and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Chappell, of Louisville, and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Schoedinger Funeral Home, Columbus, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Jamestown (Tenn.) Funeral Home, with burial there. | Pyle, Clarence Delmer Jr. (I50749)
