Born July 9, 1949, in Hinton, he was the son of Verta Lou Jones and the late Elmer Lawrence Pomeroy, Jr. Darrell was a proud coal miner for 25 years and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, and guitar music. He was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church of Bellwood. Survivors include his wife, Carol Jean Sexton Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge; his mother, Verta Lou Jones Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge; two sons, Michael Wayne Pomeroy of Meadow Bridge and Rodney Dean Pomeroy of Landisburg; and three grandchildren, Felicia, Dillon, and Madison. Medical Center, Richmond, VA, following a long illness. Born April 10, 1936, at Stephenson, he was the son of the late Clarence Milam and Sadie Mae Lester. Mr. Milam was a former window cleaner and was well known in the Mullens community for his small engine repair. He attended the Rhodell Church of God and had been a resident of Mullens for the past 46 years. Mr. Milam served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, an infant son and Thomas Alden Milam; and a brother, James O. Milam. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Judith A. Campbell Milam; a son, Clarence William "Peanut" Milam and his wife, Melissa, of Coal City, and their children, Kenny, Michaella, and Keith; three additional grandchildren, Melissa Blankenship, Brandy Lilly, and Tiffany Milam; and seven great-grandchildren. She was born Oct. 12, 1903, in Asbury, WV, and lived much of her life in Sebring, Florida. For many years, Mary lived in Greensboro under the care of her niece, Betty Turner, and "son," Ray Turner, who passed away the next day after Mary. An independent woman for her time, in her 20s she earned her Bachelor's Degree from Marshall University, and her Master's Degree from Columbia University. Highly unusual for the 1920s, Mary and her four siblings each attended college. Mary taught elementary school for many years in Greenbrier County, WV, and Springfield, Ohio. She was very active, especially in her volunteer work with the Highlands Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Delta Kappa Gamma. Other than her parents, Wallace and Sena Harrah Burns, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Belfur Harrah and Leon Hunter, and all four siblings, Bea Harvey, Kay Wiseman, Madeline McCallister, and Bob Burns. Survivors include nieces, Betty Turner of Greensboro, NC, and Bonnie Evans of Rainelle, nephew Gary McCallister of Alderson, and eleven (11) other nieces and nephews from various areas of the United States. Edna was a homemaker and the assistant pastor at the Rupert Family Worship Center who spent much of her time visiting those in the nursing home. She did not meet a stranger and was known for her hugs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Jim Cottrell; husband Carl Pauley; and 2 sons James Alvin and Zerny Thomas Cottrell. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, Fitzgerald-Donnelly Circle of the Church and the American Baptist Women. Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Nuttall High School. She was preceded in death by parents and one sister, Dorothy Keadle. | 396 | Braxton County, West Virginia Will Book 4, p. 216-217 This My last will and testament made this the the 23rd Day of October A.D. 1890 in the County of Braxton and State of Virginia, witnesseth: I, W. D. Forinash being feeble in body but of sound mind do hereby, will and bequeath my property as follows: First: I give to my son Theodore Forinash, one lot or parcel of of land containing one acre, in the town of Shaversville, also my one fourth interest in Mill Lot and Flouring Mill in Shaversville, County and State aforesaid, which is to be his entire portion of my estate both real and personal. Second: I give to my wife Cyntha Jane Forinash her mentainance from my farm her natural lifetime, also one grey mare, also two cows her choice. Third: I give my entire farm, on Bens Run a branch of Elk river County and State aforesaid to my two daughters Cora Francis Forinash, and Matilda Florence Forinash to be divided equally between them. Fourth: I give to the M. P. Church house now building in Newville, County and State aforesaid twenty-five dollars. Fifth: I give to my wife Cynthia Jane Forinash all my household effects and five head of hogs and four pigs and my watch - to be her own. Sixth: I direct that my half interest in the sawed lumber and my half interest in all unsawed timber owned by me and John M. Marple on Laurel Patch run and my interest in a steam saw mill, now on Laurel Patch run, and my four horse team, gears and wagon and all other personal effects not herein disposed of sold to the best advantage purchaser giving bond with approved security for same. Seventh: After paying all my debts and this will complied with, if there should be any money left, I give it to my wife Cynthia Jane Forinash for her benefit in keeping up the farm. Squires of Braxton County and State of West Virginia being of sound and disposing mind and memory Do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. First my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall by my executor hereinafter named be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall by them be found convenient. Second, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Maria J. all my personal property for her to dispose of during her natural life also I give to beloved wife Maria J. all my land enclosed on the farm I now live upon to have and to hold during her natural life. Third I give devise and bequeath to my beloved son John M. Squires and his heirs at the death of his mother, Maria J. Squires, all of the above named land, embraced in the farm I now live upon, and also included in or with the home farm, as above spoken of, which is estimated by deed to me by Asa Squires, bearing date 22d day of October 1867 to contain one hundred and fifty acres more or less, also the tract or piece of land deeded to me by Thomas H. Squires, bearing date the 26th day of September 1887, and containing eight acres (8) and furthermore to my son John M. and his heirs, I give devise and bequeath the following tracts or parcels of land to wit: One tract to me by deed from David H. Bright, bearing date the 8th day Feb. 1861, Fifteen acres more or less, also one other tract of land, to me by deed from Nathaniel Burrough and Wife, bearing date the 3d day of March 1862, and containing 12 acres and 125 poles. Also one other tract of land to me by deed from John L. Rhea, Admin. Of William Hutchison dec'd, bearing date the 8 day of October 1867, containing seventy five acres. All of the above named tracts or parcels of land together with one other tract on the waters of Bickles Fork a tributary of Salt Lick Creek and containing fifty acres, more or less, it being the residue of one hundred and forty acres deeded to me by Asa Squires to go to and for the use of my son John M. Squires, and his heirs, at the death of my beloved wife Maria J. Squires conditioned as follows time. Three years after the death of my wife, or sooner if convenient, my son John M. Squires shall pay or caused to be paid, as part of my estate which is embraced in the above named tracts or parcels of land and as a residue in full for what I intend for my other children and their heirs. First to my beloved Daughter Margaret C. $210.00. Second, to my beloved Daughter Mary L. $210.00. Third to my beloved Daughter Susan M. $210.00. Fourth, to the three (3) heirs of my daughter deceased Amanda L. to each $53.33 1/3 total $160.00. Fifth to the two heirs of my Daughter Sarah E., dec'd, to wit Henry H. Blagg $53.33 1/3 Also Mary M. Blagg $166.66 2/3 Total $1010.00 [sic]. Also to the heir of my Daughter Amelia E., dec'd, pay $5.00 five dollars as a balance of his said A. McCoy Mothers share. One thousand and fifteen dollars is the $1015.00 sum total to be paid by John M. Squires as indicated by the above figures, and as willed by me in this my last will and testament. Should any one of my heirs attempt by suit at law to brake [sic] this my last will, that they are hereby declared as being disinherited by me from any portion of my Estate Whatever, and having now made that disposition of my property, both personal and real as to me seemeth right and proper, I do appoint my beloved wife Maria J. and John M. Born July 1, 1943, in Greenbrier County, WV, he was the son of the late Lester Arthur and Lula Belle Kersey Williams. Robert was originally from Route 92 in White Sulphur Springs and worked in carpentry and masonry at The Greenbrier hotel for 45 years until his retirement. He loved his animals and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Michelle Williams, and great grandson, Hunter Walton. Robert is also preceded in death by two sisters, Donnalee Furry and Thelma May; and two brothers, Carl and Glen Williams. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth McMahan Williams; son, Mark Williams and wife Tina of Lindside, WV; daughter, Melissa Williams of Ronceverte, WV; grandchildren, Courtney Risoli and Jimmy of New Jersey, Latasha White "Josha" of Lindside, Cheyenne Wiggan and Keneil of Roanoke, VA, Brittany Walton and fianc Shannon Bowman of Bluefield, VA, Whitney Coles of Ohio, Brett Haynes of Beckley, and Levi Spence and Seth Pritt, both of Ronceverte, WV; eleven great grandchildren; brothers, Kennie Williams and Faye of Mt. Airy, NC, Tommy Williams and Patricia of Princeton, WV; sisters, Marie Maupin of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Bonnie Foley of Greenville, PA; and special niece, Crystal Maupin. In keeping with Roberts wishes, he will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
