Mrs. Nancy Loudermilk

Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Mrs. Nancy Ellen Loudermilk, 27, Maxwelton, who was killed about 1 a.m. Saturday in a one-car accident, two miles north of Lewisburg.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Simmons, Renick.

Mrs. Loudermilk was a graduate of Renick High School, and West Virginia Business College, Bluefield. She was employed as secretary to Dr. John T. Collins, Lewisburg, and a member of the Renick Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her parents are her husband, Donald; three daughters, Theresa Ellen, Melissa Ann and Jennifer Lynn, all at home; a son: David Kent, at Home; a brother, Eugene M. Simmons, Martinsville; her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Monie Simmons, Renick; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence Morrison, Renick; and paternal grandfather, Wade Lewis, Renick.

Rites Slated Today For Wreck Victim

MAXWELTON (RNS) - Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Ellen Loudermilk, 27, of Maxwelton will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in the Renick Baptist Church with the Rev. G. C. Musick and the Rev. C. R. Mason in charge. Burial will be in the Renick Cemetery.

Mrs. Loudermilk was pronounced dead on arrival at a Ronceverte hospital following a one-car accident about two miles north of Franford Saturday morning.

The body was taken to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Simmons of Renick, at 5 p.m. Sunday from Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

Roy Dempsey

Roy Jackson Dempsey, 80, of Fayetteville, died Friday in the Oak Hill Hospital.

Born Feb. 25, 1888 in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Andrew Seaton and Caroline Burgess Dempsey.

A member of the Baptist Church, he was a retired stone mason and custodian of Fayetteville High School.

Survivors include a son, Seth Alderson Dempsey of Moorpark, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Shave of Charleston, and Mrs. Faye Lahoda of St. Albans; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Fix of Belle; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Church of God in Fayetteville with the Rev. Billy Reed Wickline and the Rev. Leon E. Nunley officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services. Friends may call the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville after 2 p.m. today.

Robert E. Akers

Final rites for Robert Edward Akers, 71, Fayetteville, Route 2, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Doggett Chapel Church at Dempsey with the Rev. Cash Brooks in charge. Burial will be in the Carter Cemetery at Dempsey.

Akers died Wednesday at his home following a heart attack.

Born May 17, 1889 in Hinton, he was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Akers, three sons, Albert of Boomer, Frank L. of Buffalo, N.Y., S. Sgt. James L. Akers, U.S. Air Force, Arabia; his mother, Mrs. Mary Ellen Akers, Fayetteville Route 1; five brothers, Roland of Portsmouth, Ohio, Herman of Fayetteville Route 1, Bedo of Summerlee, William in Michigan, Ken of Meadow Bridge; three sisters, Mrs. Roy Dempsey, Fayetteville, Mrs. Earl Hitchcock, Summersville; Miss Leona Akers, Fayetteville Route 1 and six grandchildren.

The body will be taken from the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville to the church one hour before the service. (RNS)

Susan Hypes Dies At Home

POE (RNS) - Mrs. Susan Jane Hypes, 68, of Poe, died Thursday at her home after an apparent heart attack.

She was the widow of Clem C. Hypes, who died in 1972.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Nannie Jean Hall of Drennan, Mrs. Glenna Gray of Craigsville, Mrs. Peggy Tucker of Kesslers Cross Lanes, Mrs. Eva Preast, Mrs. Edith Hanshaw and Mrs. Wilma Gross, all of Poe; two brothers, Buddy McClung of Elkview and Alex McClung, Jr. of Southline, Mich.; eight sisters, Mrs. Margaret Neil of Jodie, Mrs. Edith Wolf of Grimms Landing, Mrs. Mary Dye of Fayetteville, Mrs. Bessie Thomas of Zela, Mrs. Blanche Hypes and Mrs. Goldie Gray, both of Poe, Mrs. Ada Moore of Southline, Mich., and Mrs. Helen Cogar of Davin; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethel United Methodist Church at Poe with Rev. Wesley Pennington and Rev. Harmon Gray in charge. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery at Kesslers Cross Lanes. Friends may call at the Howard White Funeral Home at Summersville from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

RUPERT (RNS) ? Mrs. Erna Nichols, 80, died Sunday morning at her home after a short illness.

Born July 29, 1894, at Rupert, she was a daughter of the late James O. and Elizabeth McClung Deitz.

She was a member of the Amwell Baptist Church.

She is survivived by a brother, John Quincy Deitz of Rupert.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smathers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donald Fields in charge. Burial will be in Amwell Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today.

Tobie Robinson's Rites Incomplete

CLINTONVILLE (RNS) - Tobie Claude Robinson, 64, of Clintonville died Thursday in a Virginia hospital after a short illness.

Born Sept. 27, 1908, at Kieffer, he was a son of the late Lee and Dove Easter Robinson.

He was a member of the Sam Black United Methodist Church, Clintonville Ruritan Club and was a retired miner.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Tuckwillier Robinson; two sons, Claude of Danville, Va., and Carl of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Wilkie Dietz and Mrs. Wilma Shafer, both of Rupert; three brothers, Paul, Nelson and Maxwell, all of Rupert, and four grndchildren.

The body is at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle.

CLINTONVILLE - Tobie Claude Robinson, 64, of Clintonville, Greenbrier County, died Thursday in Emmett Memorial Hospital, Clifton Forge, Va.

He was a lifelong resident of Clintonville and was a member of Sam Black United Methodist Church and Ruritan Club. Mr. Robinson was a retired miner.

Surviving: wife, Lizzie Tuckwillier Robinson; sons, Claude of Danville, Va., Carl of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Wilkie Deitz and Mrs. Wilma Shafer, both of Rupert; brothers, Paul, Nelson and Maxwell, all of Rupert; 4 grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Wallace-Wallace Funeral Home, Rainelle, with the Rev. Bernard Skeens and the Rev. Ray Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

FORMER ATHLETE DIES IN WRECK

RICHWOOD, April 8. - (AP) - L. H. "Hank" Juergens, 35-yearold former high school athlete, was killed tonight in an auto
wreck on route 94.

Ikey Lawson, locomotive engineer, was seriously injured.

Deputy Sheriff Louis Catlette said Juergens failed to negotiate a curve and that the car plunged off the road and turned over.

Surviving Juergens are his widow, Patricia McClung Juergens, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Robert Bradshaw

Mrs. Robert Bradshaw, 66, the former Lillian Nuss, of 1406 E. Centre St., Mahanoy City, died yesterday in Good Samaritan Hospital where she was a patient three weeks.

Mrs. Bradshaw was born July 26, 1904 in Mahanoy City. She attended the local schools and had been employed at City Shirt Co., Mahanoy City.

Mrs. Bradshaw moved to Philadelphia where she was employed for 15 years by Nelson Carpet Mills. She moved back to Mahanoy City in 1948.

Mrs. Bradshaw was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mahanoy City: and the Senior Citizens.

Surviving are her husband, Robert; three brothers, Harry Nuss, Mahanoy City; Edward Nuss, New York City; John Nuss, Wildwood, N. J.; a sister Mary, wife of William Raker, Green Creek, N. J.; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday morning from the Ritz Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Rev. Brian L. Cloud will officiate. In terment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown.

Robert Bradshaw

Robert L. Bradshaw, 69, of 47 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, died Wednesday night at the Pottsville Hospital.

A former Mahanoy City resident, he was born in Virginia, April 13, 1905, son of Robert Q. and Cosbe (Armstrong) Bradshaw. A retired automobile mechanic, he last worked at Miller's Service Station, Frackville.

His wife, the former Lillian Nuss died in 1971. He was a resident of Frackville for the past 25 years. The last member of his immediate family, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A private funeral will be held Saturday from the Ritz Funeral Home, Mahanoy City. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown.

Wilma Louise Hanson Sharrer, 79, of Westminster died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home.

Born on May 13, 1934 in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Martha Armentrout Hanson. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Sharrer, husband of 54 years, who died June 4, 2011.

She was a 1952 graduate of Westminster High School and a bookkeeper and collection agent with a finance company in Westminster. She also helped on the family farm well into her mid 70's and was a caretaker of many. She enjoyed collecting teddy bears, baking, and was an avid gardener.

She was a life-long, active member of Deer Park United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Vince Kilduff of Westminster and Laurie Jo and Rick Shuping of Landis, NC; siblings Earl "Sonny" Hanson of Reisterstown, Emma Beaver of Silver Run, Duane Hanson and Debbie Hanson both of Westminster and Daryl Hanson of Littlestown, PA. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on whom she doted.

She was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Hanson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Patricia Dols. Interment will be in Keysville Union Cemetery.

Born on October 26, 1935 in Detour, MD, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mildred Mort Sharrer. He was the husband of Wilma Hanson Sharrer, his wife of 54 years.

He was a graduate of Taneytown High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1958 to 1960. He retired from Black and Decker with more than 40 years of service. He was a member of Deer Park United Methodist Church, an endowment member of the National Rifle Association, a competitive trapshooter, a hunter"s safety instructor and a former president of the Deep Run Rifle and Revolver Club. An avid sportsman, he also enjoyed training English Pointers for pheasant hunting.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Vince Kilduff of Westminster and Laurie Jo and Rick Shuping of Landis, NC; sister Mary Louise Tracey of Taneytown; and sister and brother-in-law Rosie and Raymond Bentz of Thurmont. He was predeceased by brother Donald Sharrer and by sister Evelyn Sies.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Shamer. Interment will be in Keysville Union Cemetery.

Earl D. "Sonny" Hanson, 88, of Reisterstown, and formerly of Westminster, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at BridgingLife Dove House.

Born September 21, 1935 in Lewisburg, WV he was the son of the late Leslie Lowell and Martha Elizabeth (Armentrout) Hanson. He was the cherished husband of 25 years to the late Evelyn Hanson, who predeceased him June 2023.

Sonny was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as an MP in New Mexico after training in South Carolina. He was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1955. Sonny grew up on the family farm in Westminster, developing a love for farming early on. He continued to work on the farm throughout his life, raising beef cattle and helping the Bullock family with their herds as well. He was a skilled carpenter by trade, and in his younger years had a passion for NASCAR racing, traveling to watch car races with his friends. He often attended farm and livestock auctions in the area.

Surviving him are stepchildren Sharon Evans (Greg), Danny Clatterbuck (Cindy), and Nancy Sweeney; siblings Emma Beaver (Jim), Deborah Hanson, Duane Hanson, and Daryl Hanson (Pat); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by sisters Wilma Sharrer, and Thelma Hanson.

The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. His funeral service will be Thursday, October 12th at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Deer Park Cemetery.

Benjamin R Zopp, after four years of suffering and confinement to his bed, died on the 13th ultimo, at his residence on Mill Creek mountain, in his 83rd year. He came to this county from Baltimore in 1834, on account of ill health. He leaves a wife and seven children--five boys and two girls--to lament his death. His land was willed to him at the death of Jos. S. Crane in 1839. When the Sheriff's came around, year by year, his taxes were always ready for them. From the time he came to Greenbrier until his death he never owed any man a cent. He never visited his native city after coming to Greenbrier.

George Wayne Lipscomb passed away peacefully at his home in Troutville, VA on
June 21, 2022. He was 82 years young.

George was the son of the late George Washington and Willie Gladys Moody Lipscomb. He was born and grew up in Lynchburg, and lived most of his life in the Roanoke and Troutville areas. At a young age, George proudly served 3 years in the US Army where he was a driver and mechanic, afterward receiving an honorable discharge. He credits his military experience as a positive and life changing time. George explored multiple career paths, then retired from Federal Mogul after 20+ years of dedicated service as a Team Foreman.

George enjoyed dining out, particularly at Coach and Four, Angels Diner, and Sals Italian Restaurant. Over the years he enjoyed working in his metal and wood working shop, doing handy-work, repairing and collecting watches, gunsmithing, billiards (pool), and hunting. He took great pleasure sitting on his porch swing enjoying the woods and listening to 70s soft rock and country music. He is described by his friends as being gracious and giving to others.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Wickline Lipscomb, and a son, Bradley Lipscomb. George is survived by a son, Brandon Lipscomb. He is greatly missed by many caring friends, including his best friend, Nancy Pressing. Private services will be conducted at the familys convenience.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday for Mrs. Minnie Acord, 62, who died at 8:15 a.m. today at her home at Crab Orchard following a year's illness.

Rites will be held in the Bethel Church at MacArthur with the Rev. Johnny Spencer in charge. Burial will follow in the Cannady Cemetery at Glen View.

Born Sept. 26,1898, at Surveyor, she was the window of Floyd Acord.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Freda Balaskey, Crab Orchard, and Mrs. Alice Halliwell, Calloway Heights; a son, Gove Cozort, Crab Orchard; four stepchildren, Mrs. Bessie Cook, Crab Orchard; Willard Acord, Canton, Ohio; Ira Acord, Baltimore, and Tom, Glen White; two sisters Mrs. Carey Worles, MacArthur, and Mrs. Virginia Phipps, Marfrance; two half sisters, Mrs. Nora Berry, Beckley, and Mrs. Goldie McGowan, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

The body will remain at the Webb and Neal Funeral Home until the hour of the service.
