He was born December 21, 1923 in Braxton County, West Virginia to James A. and Beulah E. Blagg Rhea, and moved to the Mansfield area in 1940. Victor went to work with Cockley's Dairy Farm before being drafted into the US Army. He served with the 15th Infantry during WWII in the European Theater. Following his return from the war, he worked with G.L. Rogers, the International Harvester dealer, which became the Heisler's Company, as a mechanic and service manager. He later took a position as head of maintenance with Mobiliner Tire Company. Victor retired in 2001 following 20 years of service with John Garber Materials, where he worked as a truck driver and maintenance worker. An avid guitar player, Victor ardently followed his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of North Woodbury Freewill Baptist Church, where he had served the congregation as Secretary, and formerly as Sunday school teacher, trustee, song leader, and all around church handyman. He is survived by his wife Edith L. Compton Rhea, whom he married May 24, 1967; their children Allen & Marlean Rhea of Fredericktown, James Rhea of Bellville, Judith Ann Jackson of Lexington, Michael Rhea of Mansfield, and Douglas Rhea of El Paso, Texas, Gary Harris of Mansfield and Larry Harris of Lancaster; nine grandchildren and their spouses Jake and Julie Rhea of Mount Gilead, Steve and Maureen Rhea of Taylors, South Carolina, Lee Rhea of Fredericktown, Heather and Steve Munday of Lexington, Cory Rhea of Lexington, April Rhea of Columbus and Brittany Rhea of El Paso, Texas, Jason Harris of Galion and Ryan Harris of Mansfield; two great grandchildren Emily Rhea and Kennedy Cline; a brother Vandal Rhea of Newville, West Virginia; three sisters and two brothers-in-law Vivani and James Salsgiver of Mansfield, Vilena and David Shoenfelt of Fredericktown and Velerah Kurtz of Meadow Vista, California; a sister-in-law Shirley Rhea of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a brother Vernon Rhea, a sister Veatrice Boggs and a grandson Shaun Harris.
