Mrs. Lula Jones Dies; Rites Slated

MEADOW BRIDGE (RNS) - Mrs. Lula Jones, 80, of Meadow Bridge died Monday at her home after a long illness.

She was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church and had lived at Meadow Bridge for 15 years. Born April 12, 1887, in Greenbrier County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Cindy Hunter.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Edna Morris and Mrs. Verta Pomeroy, both of Meadow Bridge; four sons, Thelmar and Harry, both of Maplewood, Grover of Meadow Bridge and Calvin of Piney View; three brothers, George of Dawson, John of White Sulphur Springs and Hubert of Meadow Bridge; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Beelick Knob Tabernacle with Rev. Ernest Barley in charge. Burial will be in End-of-the-Trail Cemetery at Clintonville.

The body will remain at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in East Rainelle where friends may call this afternoon.

Arla Breland

Graveside services for Mr. Arla Breland, 81, of Longview are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, in Grace Hill Cemetery. Mr. Breland died on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in Longview.

Mr. Breland was born March 28, 1928, in Waverly, Louisiana, to Henry and Leona Lawrence Breland. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Breland attended Walnut Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo; grandsons, David and Mason Breland; and brother, Newey Breland.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Leona "Sis" and Billy Hamilton of Diana; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry "Mudslide" and Sherry Breland of Jefferson, Gary "Oscar" Breland of Longview and Harry "Do Jo" Breland of Diana; grandchildren, Clifton "B.J.", Adriane, Larry Jr., Laramy, Gary Lee, Kahey, Christy, Misty and Shonda; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete and Ethel Breland of Jefferson, and L.B. and Claudeen Breland of Diana; sister, Lorene Kern of Jefferson; stepsisters and spouses, Gerry and Bob George of Longview, and Eva and Andrew Moore of Big Woods.

The family will receive friends today, February 12, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road.

Betty Jo Harvey Breland

Services for Betty Jo Harvey Breland, 74, of Longview, will be 10:30 a.m. today, October 13, 2008, at Walnut Creek Baptist Church under the direction of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Breland passed away Friday, October 10, 2008, at her residence.

She was born June 27, 1934, in Lewisburg, West Virginia, to Merle and May Harvey. Mrs. Breland had been a resident of Longview since 1953, was a member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, traveling and cow shows.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two grandsons, David and Mason Breland.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arla "Bugs" Breland of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Leona "Sis" and Billy Hamilton of Diana; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sherry Breland of Jefferson; sons, Gary Breland of Longview and Harry Breland of Diana; nine grandchildren, B.J., Larry Jr., Gary Jr., Kahey, Christy, Misty, Shonda, Adriane, and Laramy; 11 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Fay Yates and husband, Nelson, and Hattie Christian and husband, Jake; and brother, Bill Harvey and wife, Jean, all of West Virginia.

David Harland Breland Services for David Harland Breland, 17, of Longview will be 4 p.m. today at Welch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Wallingford and Larry Breland Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Breland died Monday.

Born Dec. 25, 1978 in Upshur County, he attended Pine Tree schools and was a brick layer's assistant with Scott Long Masonry Contractors. Mr. Breland also was a member, of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Services for Harry James Breland, 50, of Diana, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at Harry's Cabin on the River on Big Cypress. Mr. Breland passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Breland was born May 4, 1960, in Longview, to Aria and Betty Jo Harvey Breland. He worked for Longview Glass for 32 years. Mr. Breland was a certified welder from Kilgore College. He loved fishing and hunting. His favorite uncle was Uncle Pete, and his favorite fishing buddies were Harold Keller and Oscar Breland.

Mr. Breland is survived by three daughters, Misty Dawn Breland of Diana; Christy Shawn Voss of Loveland, Colorado, and Laramey Brooke Breland of White Oak; grandson, Dakota Lee Rice of Colorado; granddaughters, Lillyana May Voss and McKayren Lynna Voss, both of Colorado; sister, Leona "Sissie" Hamilton and husband, Billy, of Diana; brothers, Gary "Oscar" Breland of Longview; Larry "Mud Slide" Breland and wife, Sherry, of Jefferson; his dog, Casey; and numerous nieces nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, December 28, 2010, at Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road.

LONGVIEW — A Celebration of Life for Carolyn Irene Dalston, 58, of Longview will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2:30 p.m at Treasure Church 3686 Hwy. 42 in White Oak, Texas with Bro. Allen Johnson of?ciating. Mrs. Dalston went home on Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was born on March 18, 1960 in Gilmer, Texas to Robert David Dalston and Mary Elizabeth Wallace.

She was preceded in death by: a son, David Harland Breland; father, Robert David Dalston; mother, Mary Elizabeth Moody; two brothers, Marlin Gene Moody and Stephen Virgil Dalston.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Breland, Jr and wife, Renee of Big Sandy; two daughters, Adriane Fleet of Ore City; Shonda Preston and family, of Marshall; Sister, Terri Richardson and husband, Robbie of Diana; 10 grand- children, 3 great-grand- children, nieces, nephews and friends.
