Hutson, 81, longtime resident of Dallas City, died Wednesday, July 24, at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage. She was born July 5, 1921, in Renick, W.V., the daughter of Douglas and Elizabeth Sizemore King. She first married Mervin Hedges. Later she married John C. Hutson of Nashua, Iowa, on June 21, 1958. He died Dec. 11, 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Pam (Steve) Dunn of Dallas City and Carol (Tim) Rea of Niota; two sons, Motley (Pam) Hedges of Richard, Wash., and Edward (Cynthia) Hedges of Olathe, Kan; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd King of Fort Madison, Iowa, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Retta Henson, Stella Klein and an infant sister, Esty King; two brothers, Claude King and Paul King. She was a graduate of Colusa High school and the Fort Madison Business College. She had been employed at the Lomax Canning Factory and Winegard Company in Burlington. From the early 1970's until her death, she was self-employed in the antique business. She was an active member of the Dallas City United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 28, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial was in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. He is survived by one step-son, Jack (Kathy) Barber of West Point, Iowa; three granddaughters; one step-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Rev. Doug Clark officiated. Burial with military rites was in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Renicke, W.V., a daughter of Lawrence and Mary Rhoads King. She married James Ransom Hurt on Feb. 2, 1938. He died in 1968. She is survived by one daughter, Joy (Roger) Stocker; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a sister Gerry Stanley of Collegedale, Tenn.; two brothers, Lawson King of Ashville, N.C, Calvin King of Prairieville, La.; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; one son, Robert; and one grandson, Gary Hurt. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Carthage, and a cook for Carthage College for 22 years. She will be greatly missed and always loved by her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister, brothers, and nieces. Graveside services will be at a later date. He was born March 14, 1912, in Greenbriar County, W. Va., the son of William Gray and Parthena Elizabeth Reed King. On December 19, 1938, he married Evelyn Carnes in Ft. Madison. She survives. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Adrian; four children, Sidney Brown of Ft. Madison, Ronald (Bonnie) King of Carthage, William Charles (JoAnn) King of Granite City, and George Robert (Rita) King of Ferris; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; one brother. He moved to the Colusa area where he graduated from high school. He worked as a farm hand and implement mechanic before serving as the Nauvoo-Colusa school custodian until his retirement. He continued to work as a bus driver for the Nauvoo-Colusa school district after his retirement. He helped build the Colusa gymnasium along with volunteer help in the area. He had been a member of the Adrian Christian Church and enjoyed fishing the Mississippi River. Graveside services were held Monday, July 30, at the Powellton Cemetery. She is also survived by one brother: Billy Crook and wife Jean of Weston, 2 sisters Lillian Waldeck of Jacksonville, FL and Frankie Batten Kalafat and husband John of Morgantown, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by one son: Michael Gail Mick and one sister: Ellen June Lewis. Mrs. Mick worked in retail at the Wunder Shoe Store of Weston. She was a graduate of Weston High School and a member of The First Baptist Church of Weston. Her hobbies included walking, reading and was an avid Mountaineer Fan including both football and basketball. At Maxine's request she was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 30, 2019 at 12pm from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel with. Fellowship time will be held from 10am until 12 pm, service time. At her request there will be a private scattering of her ashes.
