In the name of God Amen I James Parkins of the County of Greenbrier and State of Virginia Weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for his mercy. Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointer for all all (sic) men once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament First I resign my soul to God who gave it and my body to be buried in a christian manner. At the discretion of my Executors and as to what worldly estate it has pleased God to bless me with I will and bequeath in the manner following that is to say First that all my just debts and Funeral expenses be paid and that all my estate real and personal be sold except my slaves, And to my beloved Wife Elizabeth I will one third part of the proceeds of said sale together with a negro man named Jack to her for ever. I also will that my two slaves Mary and Joe shall choose whom of my Lawful heirs they will live with and the person or persons whom the said slaves shall choose shall have the said slaves to them and their heirs for ever and no more of any estate and the balance of my estate I will to be equally divided among my following Children To wit James Parkins, Elizabeth Spencer, Thomas Parkins, Samuel Parkins, Sara Atha, Mariah Morrison, Levin Parkins and Masten Parkins and as for my son Will Parkins he has recd of me what I believe to be his full part yet I will him one Dollar as for my son Andw Parkins he has to the best of my knowledge received sixty dollars worth of land known by the name of salt peter Cove [cave?] at or about the mount of muddy creek if the Sixty Dollars does not make him equal with the rest of the heirs I wish him made equal with such of them as do not get the slaves I hereby appoint my son Samuel Executor of my estate to execute this my last will and testament in Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of March 1825

This paper purporting to be the last will and Testament of James Parkins decd was presented in Court & proven by the oaths of Andrew Morrison & Richard Morris the witnesses state to have been executed and the same is to be recorded And Samuel Parkins the Executor therein named took the Oath prescribed by Law and entered into bond in the Sum of $1000, with David Tuckwiller his security conditioned as the law decrees therefore Letter Testamentary is Granted him in due form of Law

Delores (Dee) Teegarden, 75, of Granite Falls, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Born May 23, 1949, in Fayette, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Campbell and Martha Fury Fox.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents Dorn and Martha Fox, beloved husband George Teegarden, and brother Buck Fox.

She is survived by a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

A private celebration of Delores' life will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Red Cross.

James E. "Pete" Pitsenbarger, 81, of Elkview, WV, went to eternal rest on Thursday, June 1st, 2017, in Greenbrier County, WV. He died peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends, at the place he so dearly loved, the cabin in the woods on the Greenbrier River.

Pete was born on April 21st, 1936, to Loral and Juanita Pitsenbarger of Crawley, WV. He was a graduate of Rupert High School where he excelled in sports. He attended Glenville State College, and graduated from West Virginia University. After college he worked as a field technician for John Deere, then as an inspector for the WV Department of Highways. He was an avid sportsman, and loved nothing better than trout cooked over a camp stove with a skillet full of fried taters and big mess of ramps. His love for the outdoors led him to take a job with the WV Department of Natural Resources as an inspector of Surface Mines. He eventually became Chief of Reclamation / Abandoned Mine Lands, and worked for the department for 30 years before retiring in 2001. He was a Master Mason, and a member of Jarrett Memorial United Methodist Church.

Pete was predeceased by his parents, Loral and Juanita, and by his first wife and the mother of his children, Shelvie Jean Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Reba Fleshman Pitsenbarger, of Elkview, WV; sister Sandra Jo Pitsenbarger, of Cross Lanes, WV; three children: Janie Bostic, of Rainelle, WV; Keven Pitsenbarger, Sr, of Rainelle, WV; Richard Deyerle, of South Point, OH; seven grandchildren: Garrett Bostic, Kaitlyn Bostic; Shannon Bostic; Keven Pitsenbarger, II; Colbie Pitsenbarger; Reba Deyerle, and Rosemary Deyerle Shrader; and several great-grandchildren Of special note is his nephew Jonathan Whitt, whom he loved like a son; and Danielle Thomas, whom he loved as a granddaughter.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 1st, at 2:00 p.m., at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview, WV.

In lieu of flowers, he asked that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA. 19140.
