A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Anitra Garten Plumley, age 49, of Shelbyville, will be held 4-7 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home. Anitra passed from this life Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her family after an extended illness.

Born January 30, 1973, in Columbus, OH but raised in Danese, WV, Anitra was the daughter of Arnett & Connie Blagg Gartner. She was a graduate of Meadow Bridge High School in WV, class of 1991 and received a bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2014. She worked as an accountant with Calsonic and most recently Kasai. She was very family oriented having enjoyed: puzzles, crocheting quilts, working in the vegetable garden, caring for strays that found their way into her home and exploring yard sales.

Along with her parents she is survived by: Loving husband of 28 years, Mark D. Plumley; daughter, Sierra Plumley of Unionville; son, Tyler Plumley of Shelbyville; sisters, Angela Brunkhardt, Annette (Brian Watson) Garten and April Blankenbeckler; also several nieces and nephews.

Ronald Roscoe "Punkin" Wygal, Jr., 68, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.

Born on February 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Ronald Wygal, Sr. and Gloria Feazell Wygal Rhodes.

Punkin was a humble and special soul.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Rhodes; and siblings, William Rhodes, Ernie Rhodes, and Brenda Rhodes Ferguson.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories include his surviving siblings, Norman (Debbie) Rhodes, Gale (Kathy) Rhodes, Irma (Eddie) Boardwine, and Wayne (Christina) Rhodes; and lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, August 24, 2015 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Ron Sears officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral on Monday.

LOU ELLEN SMITH FEAZELL

BECKWITH - Lou Ellen Smith Feazell, 55, of Beckwith, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2009 with her family by her side, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.
Born on May 12, 1954, at Beckwith, she was the daughter of Jim "Sang" Smith of Ingram Branch and the late Stella Mae Hobbs Smith.

Lou attended Gum Springs Baptist Church, Chimney Corner. She was a former owner/operator of The Pines before becoming a certified nursing assistant at Kate Boone Nursing Home and Central WV Aging. She was a people person, never meeting a stranger. She loved and supported her grandchildren, spending time with her family and friends, and being there when someone needed her. Lou will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Feazell; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Fish and Edith Virginia Smith; and her brother, Robert Dennis "Denny" Smith.

Left with many wonderful memories are her children, Randall Stewart Feazell, II, of Fayetteville, and Virginia Peters and her husband, Vernon, III, of Kincaid; father, Jim "Sang" Smith of WV; four brothers, Sidney "Buck" Smith of PA, Donnie Wayne Smith of IA, Darrell Lee Smith of WV, and Gene Smith of WV; five sisters, Della Johnson of WV, Charlotte Patterson of WV, Lisa Smith of WV, Cathy Carlson of VA, and Yvonne Manley of PA; and six grandchildren, Avery Davis, Mark Feazell, Nathan Peters, Cody Peters, Ayden Peters, and Shannon Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Mack Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow at Pate-Adkins Cemetery, Crow Hollow Road, Beckwith, WV.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral, 11 AM to 12 Noon, at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, 2009.

NORA LEE FEAZELL

FAYETTEVILLE – Nora Lee Blake Feazell, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at home.

Born on May 22, 1922, at Beckwith, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Nola Heald Blake.

Mrs. Feazell was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church. She had worked as a substitute cook for the Fayette County Board of Education, Inges Dry Cleaners, and an operator for C&P Telephone, Wiseman's Drug Store in Fayetteville, as well as a homemaker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Feazell on January 7, 1979; three brothers, Lester Blake, Russell Blake, and Jim Blake; and six sisters, Irene Deal, Naomi Walkup, Minnie Jones Crawford, Dolly Donaty, Gladys Sprague, and Dotty Banks.
Left to cherish her memory include her son, Blake Feazell and wife, Anna; two daughters, Martha Feazell and Cynthia Feazell and companion, Don Peters; two grandchildren, Adam and Amanda; and special caregiver, Connie Hammontree.

Graveside services will be held at 11:15 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, with Pastor Ron George, Jr. officiating.

Cora Ellen Sanders, 80, of Horners Run Community, Shinnston, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at home.

She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Richwood, daughter of the late John Eberly and Lula McClung Eberly Gainer.

She was a homemaker and mother. She graduated from Fairmont Senior High School. She was a member of Sunrise Chapel in Fairmont.

She is survived by a son and spouse, John and Florence Sanders, of Horners Run Community; two daughters and spouses, Rebecca Ellen and Jim Chelli, of Horners Run Community, and Cindy Lou and Luke Layman, of Bakersfield, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jeff S anders, Gary Sanders, Jennifer Renee Chelli Simms, Amanda Layman and Samantha Layman; and a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Sanders.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. "Buster" Sanders, whom she married Nov. 11, 1945, on July 7, 1996; a brother, Maynard Eberly; and a sister, Lilly Mae Bradley.

Friends may call at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, until the 1 p.m. service, with Pastor Dale Tobin officiating. Dr. Phra E. Kercheval, age 104, passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at his home in Kingwood.

Dr. Kercheval was born on May 21, 1898, in Horton, Randolph County, to the late George H. and Nancy Ella Robinson Kercheval.

He grew up in Tunnelton where his father was a blacksmith. He graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1914, Potomac State College with a Pre-Dental Degree in 1916 and from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery of the University of Maryland in 1921. Dr. Kercheval established his dental practice in Tunnelton and Kingwood and practiced for 52 years, until 1973. In 1939, he founded and established the Kercheval Memorial Clinic to honor his daughter who fell victim to leukemia, and in 1952 was instrumental in establishing Preston Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of World War I, being a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corps and received an honorable discharge in 1918.

He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, a member of the George D. Jackson American Legion Post 56, where he served as Post Commander on five occasions, was a past commander for the American Legion of the state of West Virginia (1944-1945), served on the American Legion's National Executive Committee (1947-1958); the National Rehabilitation Committee and was one of the organizers of Mountaineer Boy's State. He met with Senate and House leaders in regard to veterans' benefits during his activity with the National Rehabilitation Committee. He was also a member of Preston Lodge No. 90 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Osiris Shrine Temple AAONMS, IOOF, The American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, the Monongahela De ntal Association, Sigma Nu, Theta Nu Epsilon and Psi-Omega Chapter. He wants to be remembered for his devotion to his family, friends and practice of never letting a person's ability to pay be a factor in his dental practice.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patria A. Kercheval; a daughter, Barbara A. Kercheval of Fort Meyers, Fla.; a son, Phra E. Kercheval Jr., of Warren, Ark.; three grandchildren, Rhonda K. Brown, of Memphis, Tenn., Kenneth P. Kercheval, of Jackson, Tenn., and Bradley K. Kercheval, of Olive Branch, Miss.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dr. Kercheval was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ellen Kercheval, in 1938, and his first wife, Claire Geipe Kercheval, in February of 1939; two brothers, infant Vance Kercheval, in 1896, and Dr. Ralph Kercheval, in 1938; and one sister, Alice Louise Kercheval Nutter in 2002.

Friends will be received at the Lobb Funeral Home in Kingwood on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, from noon-1 p.m., the time of the services at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood, with the Rev. Paul Mateer and the Rev. John Negley officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood, where Military and Masonic Graveside Rites will be accorded. Former Edgemere resident Donald Lee Thomas, 74, died of heart failure and complications of asbestosis Nov. 9 at Marine Health of Forest Hill.

An Abingdon resident, Mr. Thomas grew up on Brannon Avenue and graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1946. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Thomas retired from Bethlehem Steel after 40 years as a bricklayer.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Carroll (Miller) Thomas, daughters Patricia A. Miller Brower of Berlin, Md., and Donna L. Thomas of St. Petersburg, Fla., son Michael K. Miller of Meadow Bridge, W.Va., brother Max Thomas of Dundalk, two grandchildren and favorite nieces Peachie K. Wills of Fort Lauderdale and Patricia McGuire of Rosedale.

He was predeceased by brother Buzz Thomas and sisters Margie Dziennik and Florence Walters.

According to his wishes, his body was donated to the Anatomy Board of Maryland for medical research.
