KNIPPLE-WHEELER NUPTUIALS

Celebrated Wednesday Evening in a Very Pretty Manner.

A pretty home wedding occurred Wednesday evening when Miss Marie Wheeler and Olan Knipple were married at 1362 East Condit street.

The house was decorated for the occasion with flowers, potted plants and palms. The color scheme was white and green throughout and was very pretty.

The wedding ceremony was performed promptly at 8 o'clock by Rev. F. W. Burnham of the Central Church of Christ in the presence of a few relatives, about 20 being present.

The bride was attired in a handsome gown of crepe du chene and she carried a shower boquet of bride's roses. The wedding was a simple home affair and there were no attendants to the couple.

At the close of the wedding ceremony the guests were ushered into the dining room where an elaborate wedding supper was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Knipple received a large number of handsome presents from their many friends, both in Decatur and outside the city. Their presents included cut glass, silver and china.

Miss Wheeler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Wheeler of 1018 North Morgan street and is a well known young lady. She is a prominent member of the Royal Circle.

Mr. Knipple is a well known Wabash engineer, having been in the employ of the road here for a long time.

Mr. and Mrs. Knipple will reside at 1362 East Condit street where they were married. Mr. Knipple had handsomely furnished a home there and it was a sort of a present to his bride. Mr. and Mrs. Knipple will be at home to their friends after the fifteenth of this month.

Will Wheeler, a brother of the bride, and his wife of Terre Haute were present at the wedding.

The wedding was quite a surprise to the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Knipple for none but the immediate relatives of the couple knew anything about the marriage until the license appeared in The Herald Thursday morning.

Eddie (Pete) Peterson, 92, passed away on Sunday, January 7, at home with his beloved wife, Anna Ruth, by his side.

Eddie was a lifetime resident of West Chester and Northbrook. He was the last surviving child of the late Elizabeth C. and William B. Peterson of Northbrook.

In addition to his wife, Eddie is survived by a son, David and his family of Raleigh, North Carolina and a daughter, Barbara Ann Peterson of Goshen, Indiana. He is also survived by a stepdaughter Rhonda Kissick and her husband Richard; a stepson Michael Stevens and his wife Joy; and two step-grandchildren, Megan and Jacob all of Warren County, Ohio.

Eddie was a 71-year member and past master of West Chester Masonic Lodge #322.

Eddie worked at MS Yearsley & Sons, Inc. in West Chester for 50 years where he was the resident John Deere expert. Eddie strongly believed in the motto "Nothing runs like a Deere". His strong work ethic kept him working until he was 83 years old.

In his early years, Eddie farmed in the Northbrook area. Friends loved to hear Eddie share memories of his early life in Northbrook. He was a walking history book of the farms and families in the Northbrook and Unionville areas.

He was a 1943 graduate of Unionville High School.

Eddie and Anna Ruth spent many years at Paradise Park, in Harlingen, Texas. They loved being winter Texans. But they always returned home in the spring to plant their garden. Eddie enjoyed planting different things in the garden, so one year he had cotton and the next year he planted peanuts. They eagerly shared the garden's bounty with friends.

Eddie was an avid bluegrass music fan and he played bluegrass banjo. He was a regular attendee at local jams, festivals, bluegrass picnics and shows. If he wasn't picking his banjo, you would find him on the dance floor.

The family wishes to thank Neighborhood Hospice. Without their care and help Eddie would not have been able to spend his last days, as he wished, at home with his wife and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Neighborhood Health & Hospice, 795 E. Marshall Street, Suite 204, West Chester, PA, 19380.

Relatives and friends are invited to services for Eddie on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 9:00-10:00am with a Masonic Service at 9:50am at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; Followed by his Funeral Service at 10:00am.

The burial will follow the service at Union Hill Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square, PA.
