Searchers Find 2 Drowned Men
HAGERSTOWN (AP) - Searchers have recovered the bodies of two men, who were spilled into the rain-swollen Potomac River during separate boating accidents last weekend, authorities said.
Maryland State Police identified the victims as Thomas Lewis, 35, of Silver Spring, and Robert Lee Hanson, 24, of Falling Waters, W. Va.
Lewis disappeared last Saturday when the canoe he was in overturned near Hancock, Md.. during a Boy, Scout outing, authorities. Lewis was a volunteer on the canoeing expedition. His body was recovered Friday afternoon about two miles from where the canoe capsized.
In the second accident, Hanson and two other men were dumped into the river when their flat-bottomed fishing boat capsized last Saturday, authorities said. One man swam to shore, while Hanson and the other man disappeared. Hanson's body was found about four miles from where the boat overturned.
