James Lawson Hughart, Jr, 72, of McRoss, went to be with his Lord on the evening of February 2, 2016. Also known as Moose, JL was born on July 2, 1943 at the C&O Hospital, Clifton Forge, Va., to the late James Lawson, Sr., & Mamie Mae (Crookshanks) Hughart. He was married to the love of his life Mary Elizabeth (Morris) Hughart on April 29, 1977. He was a member of Big Sewell Baptist Church & attended regularly. JL, who was an extremely hard worker, had served as the Constable of Alderson, WV, worked for a while as a coal miner, and had been a truck driver most of his life. For the last 20 years, he had driven a 22 wheel coal truck & was able to maneuver it in ways you wouldn't think possible. He was also a very talented mechanic & could fix anything with an engine. In addition, he was a gifted woodworker & had many hobbies. His handiwork will always be cherished by his family. Anecdotes of his fearless adventures, which included cave exploring & feeding a black bear that came up to his truck window, both amazed & amused all who heard them. His sense of humor & quick wit brought a smile to us all. JL was full of compassion for both people and animals. He was a devoted family man, who was always ready to help others. His kind spirit will be sorely missed by his family & many friends. JL was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James Lawson Hughart, Sr., and one step-son, Ricky McCafferty (Sherry). He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, his sister, Shelba Jean Hughart Thomas, daughters, Joyce Rechelle Hughart Lusk, Crystal Renee Hughart, step-children, Paul McCafferty (Heather), Danny McCafferty, Marianne McCafferty Walton (Robert), 9 grandchildren, & 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, with Pastor Kermit Hunter officiating.
