She was a retired school secretary, having worked at Roanoke City and Craig County Schools. Shirley was preceded in death by one son, George Bradley Lipscomb; and her mother, Reba DeLong. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Wayne Lipscomb; one son, Gregory Brandon Lipscomb; daughter-in-law, Heather Lipscomb; and granddaughter, Vivian Lipscomb, all of Troutville. Shirley loved trips to the beach, the lake, and family outings. She was an avid dog lover who felt that "a house was not a home without a dog," and her devoted Maltese companion, Millie.
