Dorothy Catherine Wilder Smith, 93, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Dorothy was born in Belkan, daughter of the late William Wilder and Nell Collins Wilder. She grew up in La Follette, Tennessee, and resided in Lexington for more than 50 years. Dorothy retired from Macy's in Lexington as a sales associate. She also was a longtime member of Beaumont Presbyterian Church, Lexington.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vance Smith; her brothers-in-law, Bennie Dann and Charles Maples; and a nephew, Martin Maples. Dorothy is survived by her son, Russell Vance Smith and his wife, Michelle, of Owensboro; granddaughter, Ashleigh Hayes, and her husband, Chris, and their children, Wyatt and Emma, all of Whitesville; and a granddaughter, Alyssa Carter, and her husband, Neil, and their daughter, Addison, all of Owensboro. Dorothy also is survived by her younger siblings, Bobbie W. Maples and June W. Dann, both of Lexington, and William Wilder of Sacramento, California; niece Iris Turek (Jim) of Lexington; nephew Terry Maples (Phyllis) of Midlothian, Virginia; niece-in-law, Sarah Liddle of Virginia, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services are 6 p.m. EDT Thursday at Milward-Southland Funeral Home, 391 Southland Drive, Lexington. Interment is 10 a.m. EDT Friday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation begins at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be made at milwardfuneral.com.
