2nd Death In Concord Slay Case

Funeral services are pending at Lough-Ouimet Funeral Chapel for a Concord woman who died Tuesday in County Hospital of gunshot wounds Inflicted June 18 by her husband.

The murder victim is Mrs Charlotte M. Nelson, 78, of 13 Galloway Dr. She lived in a mobile home park off San Miguel Road.

Concord police said her husband, Emery C. Nelson, 77, of the same address, apparently shot his wife on the night of June 18 before committing suicide.

Nelson died in County Hospital four hours after the shooting. According to Det. Don Shaffer, Nelson apparently shot his wife twice in the face with a .22-callber pistol while she sat in an easy chair in the living room of the couple's home.

After making a telephone call to a daughter-in-law in Walnut Creek, Nelson apparently walked to the bathroom, sat down in the bathtub and shot himself in the mouth.

Charlotte Nelson

Funeral services for Charlotte May Nelson, 67, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lough-Ouimet Chapel, Concord. Burial will follow at Concord's Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson, a native of Wisconsin and a resident of the county for 27 years, lived at 13 Galloway Drive, Concord. She died in a Martinez hospital Tuesday.

She is survived by her sons, Willard of Walnut Creek, Donald of Sierra City, Emery of Concord and Warren of Sacramento; two daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Anderson, Stockton, and Mrs. Lorraine Warg, Minneapolis; brothers, Floyd and Marvin of Minneapolis; two sisters Mrs. Mabel Clark and Mrs. Luella Tenold, Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren, and six great -grandchildren.
