He was born on December 10, 1939 in Hughart, WV; he was the son of the late Roy Knapp and Maggie Cochran Knapp. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Johnie Knapp, Jr; two brothers, Virgil Cochran and Mary Knapp Shortridge. He was a graduate of Rupert High School and worked at Greenbrier County Schools for 30 + years. Survivors are his life partner, Charlotte; daughter, Raonda (Mark) Gray; son, Richard (Tammy) Crane; sister, Marie Knapp Powers; grandchildren, Tristen Edenfield, Trevor Edenfield, Moses Gray, Jaiden Gray, Dennis Crane and Michael Crane; great grandchildren, Sutter Crane and Caspen Crane. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and no service.
