WILLOWTON — John Everette Cottle, 74, of Willowton, departed this life for his heavenly home on Monday, February 9, 2009.
John was born on October 1, 1934 in Forest Hill, W.Va. to George Cleon Cottle and Amy Elizabeth (Keffer Ramsey) Cottle. He graduated from Forest Hill High School and after graduation he served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Celanese Corporation with thirty-five years service. He was a member and trustee of the Goodwyn's Chapel Church of Christ. John and his brother George Cottle owned and operated the Twin Fork Trout Farm at Willowton and Pigeon Creek. He owned the family farm at Forest Hill where he loved to farm and hunt. He was an avid fisherman and had been a life long resident of Summers and Mercer Counties. John loved and cherished his family.
In addition to his parents, Cleon and Amy Cottle, he was preceded in death by one son, John Wayne Cottle; and one sister, Jackie Disney. Survivors include his beloved wife, June Arnold Cottle of Willowton; two daughters, Debra Whitt and husband Roger of Glen Lyn, Va. and Andrea Bailey and husband Mike of Willowton; four sons, Kevin Cottle and wife Dreama of Willowton, Timothy Cottle and wife Vickie of Pigeon Creek, Robert "Bobby" Cottle and wife Brenda of Forest Hill, and William "Buddy" Cottle of Jacksonville, Fla.; fourteen grandchildren, Matthew Whitt, Travis Whitt and wife Amy, Jonathan Cottle and wife Nellie, Jason Cottle, Misty Murphy and husband Lamar, Samantha Cottle, Kevin Wayne Cottle, Ashley Miller and husband Shane. Kayla Barton, Tessa Cottle, Tiffani Cottle, Emily Cottle, Alana Bailey and Landon Bailey; four greatgrandchildren, Courtney Whitt, Bralend Murphy, Zara Miller and Serina Barton; one brother, George Cottle and wife Sandra of Pigeon Creek; two sisters, Leona Meadows of Willowton and Christine Buckland of Talcott, WVa.; and very special friend, J.C. Sutphin.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2009 (today) at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Jim Mullins officiating. Friends may call at Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour today. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goodwyn's Chapel Church of Christ, PO Box 121, Kellysville, WV 24732. Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale is serving the Cottle family.
